Probably some option meant for another modem or some non essential option. Nothing service affecting.

Two is one, one is none. If it's important, back it up... Somethimes 99.999% availability isn't even good enough.

noise issues are not caused by the modem model only line conditions :)

actually I believe there is a default channel and most of the traffic is supposed come off of that channel and it spreads the rest of it across the rest of the channels or that the modems are told to go to that channel to send most of that data it is the most open channel and supposedly an x amount of modems are put on each channel.

And no the channel numbers are not set by the modem! They are set by the CMTS and it can vary by CMTS brand Cisco has it to where each individual downstream is numbered so you could have downstreams 64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71 and on an ARRIS CMTS the channels numbers are set by the bonding group so each bonding group has its set of 8 channels max (current generation modems support only 8 and so does the CMTS IOS right now).

my modem is defaulting to downstream 5 (783MHz) and upstream 10 (33MHz)

The thing is that when it does this it will stop my connection for a few seconds which is annoying when I am streaming music. Since DOCSIS 2.0 only does one channel and 3.0 does channel bonding will it make a difference since the channels are bonded if one changes or go down will it stop the connection for a few seconds or will it be seamless.

Also I do notice a pattern as it will do it around 3 to 4PM EST then be fine for the rest of the night.
