Jetpack 4620L keeps dropping WWAN connection

This has only started happening the last couple of days or so. When I get home at night, the mifi is on and accepting WiFi connections, but the 4G LTE is Disconnected.

I can re-connect either from the web interface or the device itself. Same thing happened this morning, when my wife tried to use it, it was disconnected.

It was not getting hot , at least it was not hot any of the times I checked it.

I haven't changed anything with it, I have restarted it in the past couple of days because the battery was not charging right, I shut down, pulled the battery and replaced it and restarted the unit. That is about the only thing out of the ordinary. Otherwise it has run like a champ for the past month and a half.

Oddly I have discovered that it is set to turn off after 30 minutes, but I thought that also shut down the wifi? Not sure. Anyhow now sure how that option got set since it wasnt set before and I am the only one with admin access... will see if that helps.

I also turned on logging , in case it did NOT help.

Dang. It happened again. Now I need to figure out how to access the logs, doesnt show very much on the admin window. And it still says Never as far as shutdown.

This is starting to get upsetting.

Ok the WWan Log , I am pretty sure that no one pressed the power button though I wasn't home. ;

I finally got this error message on the last disconnect (wife has been rebooting the thing so I have lost the error messages) this ws only a few minutes after I had been actively using the connection:

I will see if there is are any updates out there.

EDITED TO ADD - unfortunately says no updates available, and it happened again. One of the Verizon forums has a bunch of possible causes for that particular error, so I guess I will start checking out those.

You are not using USB tethering are you?

I had tons of issues with my hotspot disconnecting and that "RUIAUTO" error would appear every time. I was using the USB tethering option as well as the WIFI. Soon as I disconnected the USB, the problems went away. It has been stable ever since.

No, I wasn't using USB tethering at all. Unfortunately th RUIAUTO message could be realted to a number of issues, including tower, hardware, firmware, or even an app or OS on one of your clients.

For example, I have heard some issues with Windows 7 causing it, or even certain types of ipv6 requests.

So I have not kept my Outlook running on my Windows 7 laptop while at home, and I set the preference to "4g only" (whatever he real setting is, I foget offhand", and it has not had the problem since making those changes. So the problem in my case was one of those things, or else, , tower related.

"Dormant" only means that the 4620 is not maintaining a constant connection session with the tower and the Verizon network. It does not mean you cannot reconnect by initiating a browser session or downloading email. Not any different than a hard wired LAN network where the individual network cards in the PC with the associated drivers will not continually broadcast and take up bandwidth if no data is being received or sent.

If the Mifi is not coming out its dormant state that is a separate problem and one to cover with the pseudo technicians at Verizon. Problem with Millenicom is that they will only create a problem ticket and send it on to Verizon and usually get a response that the tower is fine and you are back to where you started. Not any better if you were a Verizon customer in terms of the tech support you can receive.

I would set the 4620 for "4G LTE ONLY" and set the Automatic Shutdown to "never".

Check all the settings and document any changes made to the 4620 and look for settings used by others as this may be helpful. Some of the suggested settings are irrelevant to your problem but may be in the can't hurt and might help category. Others may only serve to muddy the water. Good luck!
