Weather Channel is saying that this may be worse than the 1978 blizzard.

1. Generator. Check
2. Transfer Switch. Check
3. Snowblower. Check

I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner. They are much better than broadcast TV.

I have not and will not cut the cord.

How often do you need to change the generator oil?

Many people don't plan for that...

Just trying to help!

Meh, we had a Nor'easter on December 27th, beat all time records.
There were very little power outages (mostly remote regions).
Though the best part was that we had a half-day at work! A BANK! HALF DAY! WTF?! (Well, the cashiers had to stay, HA!)

I wouldn't get too excited. What cuts power is (are? but then wouldn't it be "what cut power" and not "what cuts power"?) falling trees. Leafless trees don't blow over so easily, just like a boat with its sail down won't keel from wind

Winter is typically a power-outages-less season.

But hey, if you're positively excited, I hope all the best luck to you so that a tree falls on a power line near you! But I will also accuse you of wanting OTHERS to suffer so that you can enjoy your generator

edit - My real tip to you is this: Go fill up on food and movies. You'll be staying home tomorrow!

Ready for snow and wind. Even changed oil in generator.

If we was going to get that kind of weather forecast for here,I would have not bought a air compressor kit and instead buy a Generac 5500 watt generator when I visited my local Lowes this morning....

That was one messed up post. I meant to say that here In WV our power outages are frequent in Winter and slow to repair by our power company(AEP). So if a blizzard type storm were to hit here(I sure as hell hope not),I sure as hell would have gotten that generator.

I gave the generator a good workout earlier, fueled up the snow throwin' beast, and stocked up on bread and milk... so I'm about as prepped as I can be.

That was nothing. You only got 18 inches (I was there). Get back to us when you get 30+ inches, like we had in 1996.

I am at the Springfield (MA) Stop & Shop and it looks like we're getting ready for a major disaster.

I have two 5-gallon Jerry cans with fuel in them mixed with Sta-bil. I also have 7 gallons of fuel in the generator.

I really don't think that is enough fuel. Looks to be about 1.5 days worth... right? Don't plan on getting any out of a vehicle without a great amount of trouble. They all have anti-siphon blocks in the fill tubes now.

Not sure if you caught it last time:

It was incredible... but this will be a whole new ballgame. I'm anxious to find out... and I'll try to get some better video.

The videos are nice - the quality is fine. Ask her to please go outside and get a few minutes worth this time.
I grew up in Westport, so I know what's headed your way. This storm is going to be a great test for your machine.

That's like asking your wife to help you pick out studs at home depot.
