[CenturyTel] Century Link Capabilities (distance/speed)

Wondering if anyone has some info about Centurylink's distance capabilities. I've got 1.5 service (most that is currently available) of ADSL2 and it's been reliable. It sounds like they will be upgrading the speed in the area this summer but I am concerned that since I'm 19,000 feet from the repeater than 1.5mbps or close to it will be the maximum I can ever get.

At 19,000 feet, you are fortunate to even have stable service. Unless they make some significant technological advances in ADSL technology, you will probably never see anything faster than what you have now.

How do you know they are updating your area in the summer?

I believe that AT&T will not even service a loop of that length. For 15 to 18 thousand feet they will only offer their 768k/384k service; so count your blessings.
