The wind is roaring through in those long, sustained, surface-level freight train blows like only a Nor'easter can do. Looking down from the second story onto sweet drift patterns constantly re-forming around the stone walls, trees and parked cars. The angel my 75 year old neighbor lay down and made on her last cigarette outing flew away.
Time to take the dog for his crystal blasting. |

40 mph on my home anemometer. It doesn't record gusts well.
Not sure about quantity of snow. 4 inches on the front step. Back slider is 2 feet.
Power is blinky and I'm carrying a flashlight. Internet is blinky too.

im laying here and it sounds like snow balls are being thrown at my windows. interested to see what morning brings although sounds like it will be snowing through afternoon.

Yeah, it's hard to tell how much snow is on the ground when it's blowing this much. The drift between the two cars in front of my house is almost windshield-height. But there's only about 2 inches on parts of my front porch. I'm guessing we've got at least a foot.
Boston.com says Mass. has got 345,000 without power right now. The NSTAR outage map looks like the Cape is bearing the brunt of it - you guys must be really getting socked with the wind!

Today: A northwest wind 22 to 24 mph. Wind chill values as low as -5.
Tonite: A northwest wind 11 to 18 mph. Wind chill values as low as -15.

Snow is pretty much ended here at 9:30 am.
Out in the road which has not been plowed yet, so not affected by drifting, it's 18" in one spot, 20" in another spot. |

Here in Milford NH looks like we have about 18" hard to tell with all the drifting. Luckily it is very cold 15F so the snow is very light. Never lost power, only a couple of hundred power outages here in NH. Much worse in Boston area.
We still have a few more hours of snowfall so too soon to go out and try to shovel. Plus the wind will just blow it all back.

I don't really feel like going out and measuring, but I feel like I've seen bigger snowfalls than this in Cambridge (I've lived here for a couple of 20+ inch storms). It's hard to tell from my front porch, though!
