ASUS RT N66U vs Linksys WRT54GT

Hi,

We have been using a pile of WRT54GL with dd-wrt in a school dormitory for seven years. Now I thought it was time to upgrade the technology so I purchased the most praised router: The RT-N66U.

We sat all the boxes up with n-only and different ssids for 2.4 / 5gig and asked the rooms nearest the router to use 5gig.

Two days later the users started to complain that their wireless connection was much weaker than before and that they were frequently kicked off the net and had to reconnect.

Our infrastructure is set up to have around 6-8 users per wireless router. What can be the problem? I thought that these new units would easily outperform the WRT54GL...

Thanks for comments and advice on how to get the most out of these new units...

regards

Are the users who complain using 2.4 or 5 GHz?

Maybe turning of 5 GHz for a while and see if things improve

5ghz provides a more stable connection but a weaker signal especially through walls. if you want a stronger connection use 2.4ghz.
