| [T-Mobile] $30 Pre-Paid Unlimited Texting/Internet(5gb) & 100min I ordered a sim card kit from t-mobile.com for free, it was some deal they were running, I think they cost 99cents online now. Popped it in my HTC Mytouch 4g I had sitting around from when I had previous T-Mobile service, went online and activated the sim/plan on their activation website. The only gripe I have regarding the service is that it cost minutes to call my voicemail...which may be more common then not but figured I'd point that out since you only get 100 minutes with this plan. I don't ever really make/recieve phone calls...I got it mainly for the 5gb/unlimited data it offers, which is a REALLY good deal imo. Additional plan minutes are only 10cents/minute if you really need them. -- Join The Fight against Media Censorship www.blackthisout.com |

| Re: [T-Mobile] $30 Pre-Paid Unlimited Texting/Internet(5gb) & 10 I had that plan myself till I changed phone equipment so I ended up with an AT&T MNVO. Tmobile prepaid wont let you call forward so that you can just use say your Google Voice voice mail and get messages using your data on the phone. Just keep in mind that if your mid month and you dont have funds in the account and your out of 100 mins you cant place or receive any calls till your next billing cycle gets funded or you fund your account in the month your already in. |

1 edit | You are correct that you can't do call forward but you can use GV voice mail in a different way.
1) Make google voice your main number 2) forward all call to tmobile number 3) ask Tmobile to disable your Tmobile voice mail, so it does not pick up
Now voice mails go to GV and you get can get them as text messages.

 | I agree with @redholm.You can transfer your number from google voice to tmobile number. |

redholm join:2004-10-31 Sunnyvale, CA | Yes but the google voice application uses up your minutes.
There are other applications groovIP, talkatone etc that will use data connection instead.
You can also get voice mails forward to email and listen to voice mails that way. |

| Lol did you read the page you linked to?
Last paragraph of the description has this.
"...When using Google Voice for Android, both domestic and international calls are placed through a US-based Google Voice access number, and will use the standard minutes from your cell phone plan." |

| reply to freakout9903 I asked : Can you use the google voice application too to get the voicemails?
I did not ask about calling any numbers.
The google voice application on my current Sprint GNex phone is used to receive voicemails, it downloads them to the phone when a new voicemail is left.
I have read that the T-Mobile pre-paid plans do not integrate well or at all with this application, I wondered if it had changes or improved recently. |

| On all provider, except Sprint, calling GV voice mail using google voice app is a call to a regular number and uses your minutes.
I have my voice mail forwarded to email and can use data to get the mail that has the message. I also use talkatone which can get to voice mail not using minutes. Talkatone need a good data connection email does not.

toby is not talking about calling Google Voice. The Google Voice app allows you to listen to voice mails without calling, exactly like the way you listen to your messages via your email. -- Rule #62: Don't take yourself so damn seriously! |

| Maybe I am not being very clear, not a native speaker.
Correct you are not calling a number the UI is easy press a button. No you are not using the data connection google voice app will use your voice connection. No the voice mail is not downloaded to you device.
I heard that Sprint works differently with google voice but I have never used Sprint.
The reason talkatone and groveIP exist is because google voice app will use your minutes. Assuming you are not on Sprint but this is a T-Mobile thread so Sprint is not in the picture unless otherwise mentioned. |

I really don't think that listening to voicemails using the Google Voice app could be using minutes (see attached picture for example).
Sure if you call Google Voice and listen to voicemails that way, I know that that uses minutes, but I seriously don't think you're using minutes by listening through the app. It should be downloading them to the phone, or streaming them using your data connection, but I guess I could be wrong.
Edit: I'm using AT&T, but don't see why this would work differently on different carriers, especially if using wifi.
Edit 2: I can prove, without a doubt, that this is not using minutes, as I can do this on my Nexus 7 wifi as well (no voice or cellular data). -- Rule #62: Don't take yourself so damn seriously! |

redholm join:2004-10-31 Sunnyvale, CA | I stand corrected, I was going to remove my SIM and try to get voice mail but you beat me to it with the Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 was a perfect proof. |

tobyTroy Mcclure join:2001-11-13 Seattle, WA | reply to freakout9903 Thanks, so has anyone tried doing this with a pre-paid T-Mobile plan?
I can do this no problem with a Sprint plan. I can also listen to the voice mails on my wifi only Nexus7 and online at the google.com/voice website. |

 | reply to freakout9903 Can T-Mobile users of this plan Roam on AT&T Wireless' network for 2G/3G data connectivity to the internet? A friend lives in rural NE PA where the only wired broadband is substandard DSL for $50/mo (for a lousy few hundred kbps and it's capped at 5GB) so this could be a better deal for him if there's some way to tether a phone to an 802.11 router. |

| There is no data roaming on this plan. There are reports that there is voice roaming but I have not experience it myself.
As to connecting other devices and use the data plan. This is normally called tether and is not allowed in the contract. Many people are reporting doing it but some people have reported getting caught. I think they said data was turned of.
Your friend can get a SIM card and test the signal and speed. Another alternative is Verizon LTE tablet plans. Not cheaper than DLS but probably faster if you have coverage. |

 | reply to freakout9903 An easy way to discover if T-Mobile pre-paid minutes are used - call #999# before and after a call/action.
This will display the T-Mobile pre-paid account balance (minutes and dollars remaining). |
