The new op-sys like win7 are so much better that the old ones like win95 & 98 that tweaking is not needed as much as was in the past.
After my experience with XP I did not even bother to check Win7 |

Vista and later automatically adjust your settings so there is no "tweaking" to be done.
Everything else is ISP and technology specific so it is easier to keep the sort of questions that would have shown up here in the past in those forums.
The fact that this forum is quiet just shows the changing times. |

This is one of the forums that brought me to Dslreports.com to begin with.
I remember getting DSL service for the first time, it was 512up & 128 DN and tweaking your modem / PC was the thing to do at that time. I called up bell-south and on at least two occations the tech there told me to visit Dslreports.com to check my speeds and line quality, at the time I thought that they had some affiliation to the site.
Long story short, after frequenting the site for a year, I decided to become a member in 2001.
