| got uverse internet + tv yesterday, question i switched from charter to uverse (1 hd tv, and 18mbit internet) yesterday due to instabilities with charters internet on my street. i was actually a little sad to switch because when charters internet works, it works very well.. very low latency, i always get my 30/4 speeds... it would just cut out every day for an hour or 2 which is unacceptable.
can anyone confirm that it's 100% normal to have my uverse modem interleaved? i had regular dsl in the past, and Interleaved was always considered to be for horrible noisy phone lines and you wanted to be on fastpath.
so far uverse is performing how i had hoped. i dont fully get my 18mbit, but it's close. the tv was the biggest surprise.. they're lightyears ahead of charters old crappy receivers.

| Yes, VDSL is interleaved which adds some latency compared to fastpath ADSL2+. As far as noisy phone lines I do not have that issue and I have their VOIP. Your max user rate is 46375 and they have you on the 25/2 profile. You actually should be on the 32/5 profile and then you would qualify for the 24/3 speed if you so desire it. |

4 edits | thanks for answering my questions - 18mbit was the highest they had around here (so they said) i'd love to get faster if it wasn't much more $.
edit:
you're right - when i logged into my online account it is showing 24mbit as an option but its grayed out
edit 2:
well, i called in and they confirmed my max is 18, even though i get an option on the website to select 24 when modifying my modem. shes gonna escalate it and im supposed to receive a call back with the answer. hopefully they can do it easily? |

 | reply to outz Actually, looking at your numbers, I doubt you could run a 32 mbit profile without trouble. Your noise margin, if bumped up, would likely go below the minimum necessary for the service. Also, your upstream power is already out of spec (max. upstream power is supposed to be capped at 6.0 dBm), if your profile was bumped up you would be way, way out of spec at that point. |
