Re: The New Wireless Code Hearings. Live Stream @ 9-amThen take the simpler solution: don't lock any device ever. Boom, problem solved. |

That's what I've been saying all along - unlocked, debranded, o/s updates direct from the manufacturer, no bloat/crapware installed. |

I feel awful that I haven't been listening in on these. Glad I'm queued up now, right before JF takes to the stage. |

Re: The New Wireless Code Hearings. Live Stream @ 9-amAs usual, JF is making good points. |

JF should have also mentioned the security aspect of getting o/s updates direct from manufacturers. With phones rapidly becoming vectors for attack into corporate/government networks, we can't wait for carriers to update the o/s (if they ever do it). |

Sorry, I paused the broadcast a couple hours back and resumed it.
Listening to Bell's answers, especially Oosterman's responses, I have no idea who would want to a Bell customer. Can't believe Oosterman's responses to why Bell doesn't offer certain elements such as 1 and 2 year contracts is to just go to a competing carrier that does. |

JF mentioned that you should be able to use a credit a year or 2 later.
Thing is, only *SOME* prov's have consumer protection laws that clearly dictate they do not expire, like in Quebec.
The rest of Canada expires.
Again PIAC is supporting expiry dates on credits, like Bell, Telus, Rogers and the CWTA. Thus pushing consumer protection laws back a decade. |

If the carriers don't know what contract T&C's were in effect at a point in time, then they are idiots.
Corporate counsel or Corporate Secretary WILL have this stuff on-file. |

About the only innovation the carriers have is in their ability to screw consumers.
They don't invent the technology, so there's no innovation there. |

Okay JF is finished and it sounded like the English translator just had a stroke... |

Daniels from Bell saying if Canada mandated unlocked phones, it's very likely Apple wouldn't supply Canada with iPhone is absurd. Verizon iPhone 5's are factory unlocked and I know some other users here said European phone need to be legally unlocked and I'm sure they also sell iPhone's. |
