atuarreHere come the drumsPremium join:2004-02-14 College Station, TX | reply to atuarre Well some of the early reviews have been mixed. One I saw gave it a positive rating, and another one gave it a very low rating, so I am waiting for it to hit here to see what peoples initial reactions will be. |

Some of the gameplay video I've watched looks cool at times, then other times, it just looks terrible.
May not be worth a $50 purchase? |

GhastlyonePremium join:2009-01-07 Las Vegas, NV kudos:2 1 edit | A lot of people in that Reddit thread seem to be talking about inferior graphics and not much else. I'm more concerned with gameplay, character control, story line, etc.
I don't know. It sure does have a lot of mixed reviews so far.
edit: Actually, after looking at those screen shots, it does look pretty inferior in todays standards. First thing I thought was it looks similar to Fear 2 style graphics. Which would be like 2008-09 |

Aliens: Colonial Marines is bad. Not so bad it's good, not uneven, but with bright spots, not good except for awful glitches. If it had launched in its current state alongside Doom 3 in 2004, A:CM would've been laughed out of the room for not even surpassing id's graphics engine, enemy AI, acting, or missions. |

GhastlyonePremium join:2009-01-07 Las Vegas, NV kudos:2 | reply to Krisnatharok My god, what a scathing review. It confirmed some of my suspicions with this game. The videos I watched, the Alien movements and how they just simply walked or fell from a ceiling tile looked absolutely terrible.
From the article...
quote: The good: Multiplayer makes a few cool asymmetric strides, so long as the two sides' XP levels are somehow equal. The bad: Atrocious AI and xenomorph choreography Underwhelming weapons, particularly puny-feeling machine guns Script fails to hit humorous, badass, or emotionally charged notes of its forebear The ugly: Pretty much the entire game. They even screwed up the powerloader, which is a nightmare to control

That'd be a whole lotta bored, considering what you play now, I'm sure you have a backlog, and what else you could wisely spend that money on.
That shit just looks baddy bad. I mean, it became obvious on the 2nd screen shot it was DOOM + ME1-2...even the textures and color schemes looked the exact same, and some of the floor layout. -- I am only one, but I am one. May not be worth a $50 purchase? wooooo, look at the reviews made by the critics on there.
said by [Critic=GameSpot :] Feb 12, 2013 45 The Alien franchise deserves better than this. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a disappointing exercise in bland corridor shooting, dragged down by laughable dialogue and cooperative play that makes the game worse than when you adventure on your own. Colonial Marines is unremarkable in every conceivable way: it's far too easy, generally devoid of tension, and lacking in the variety it so desperately needed. |

From what I have read, Gearbox, apparently, outsourced the main game to a third company. Borderlands 2 was probably taking most/all of their resources... |

| reply to atuarre I have had a preorder on this one for some time as well and now I find myself pretty much not wanting to go pick it up. I might just cancel. I'm a huge Aliens fan, so this is especially disappointing. But judging by the reviews this is in no way worth $60. -- "The counsel of fools is all the more dangerous the more of them there are." -Ólafr Höskuldsson |

atuarreHere come the drumsPremium join:2004-02-14 College Station, TX | reply to atuarre Yeah. It was heavy on my mind last night but I'm glad I didn't go through with the purchase. I have purchased games before that were really hyped up and that turned out to ultimately be garbage.
I guess I will just wait for Crysis 3 and SimCity. Crysis 3 beta is unplayable on max settings. Maybe they just haven't optimized it yet. Hopefully all that will be fixed come launch.
I would get ACM if the price dropped substantially. I won't ever play AVP again because every time I was in the multiplayer games, all those people would do is pick the predator and use the cannon. |

Knowing Crytek, that will be fixed NEVER. Crytek is trying so hard to be another id with no justification or the years of credibility to back it up. This is why they were able to be picked up so easily by EA.
Crytek seems to just hate its userbase, because they cry foul and bitch and moan ENDLESSLY if they have to spend more than 30 minutes optimizing anything. When the fact that Crysis Warhead even sold at all was the fact that it didn't run like ass even on reasonably high-end machines.
Then you have how many PC fanboys cried fowl and harped on them for "consolizing" Crysis 2, which are the same people who don't see the irony of praising Crysis 1 as a bastion for PC gaming when 90-something percent of the market will not have the required hardware to run it at an appropriate level of eye candy and fluidity to match. The fact that their only release of the SP demo still stutters and chugs while its in-game framerate counter is telling me it's getting 90~+ fps, while a different game from a different company that licensed the engine (Far Cry 2) could be so fluid on not even a third of the reported framerate tells me that Crysis cannot be even *expletive* bothered to fix anything. -- Because, f*ck Sony |

 | You obviously are unaware of the classic "will it run Crysis" meme...
Crysis 3 is meant to be played in 2-3 years. |
