HELLFIRE posted : Wait a minute, you're trying to max our your ISP PIPE with this sucker? And just how big is your pipe may I ask?
Also, what connection you have? MetroE? MPLS? Fiber / SONET? Or just a home dsl / cable connection?

Look up IPERF on your search engine of choice. My personal preference is XJPERF which is windows based and fairly
intuitive to use.

Regards

HELLFIRE posted : First question's going to have to be answered by some more questions
- This the product you're talking about?
- if it is, what speed is the ethernet connection on the device physically? I can't find anything on WD's specs
sheet whether it is 100Mbps or 1000Mbps
- is there a GigE switch or a 10/100Mbps switch between your PC and the WD drive?
- does Win7 register the NIC speed as 100Mbps or 1000Mbps?
- have you benched your NIC and switch with IPERF or similar to see if it can really move a Gigabit of data?

2nd question you're going to have to go to the manual or WD to figure out.

Regards

Western Digital NES drive

Rob_ posted : I bought this Western Digital NES drive for backup reasons, don't need to use the cloud or internet to access my files. I was told by a friend it's up to 100 megs both ways but real world speeds would be 60-80 up. The test did only 20 megs (there abouts)

I hooked it up, changed the admin to Rob, created the password. Low and behold I can't access it on the network drive. "Incorrect windows password access denied" I changed the Windows password, same thing.

So, I'm SOL on that department, looks like the files will have to go to the public directory.

My questions are, how do I increase the upspeed of the file transfers to full throttle and how do I change the windows password windows security keeps denying me. Even after removing the password it still denies me.

This is Windows 7, my card is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

Any suggestions?

This is the 3TB version WDMyBookLive

-Rob
