50 mb Internet is SLOOOOOW In Rocky Mount Today.
Got up this morning, while the internet loads (web pages for instance) it is sloooooooow and usually not loading the entire page EVER. Traceroutes are slow, pings are normal.
I know there was a fiber cut last night on Century links fiber outside of Reno that apparently was causing some big headaches but that has been fixed for a few hours now.
Anyone else in Rocky Mount NC area experiencing internet issues?
UPDATE: It was the DNS server suddenlink provides via DHCP. I usually have that changed to manual entries but somehow their's was in there. Changed it back and all works now.
I did make a call into SL, and asked if there was anything going on and if everything looked ok. I was told yes, seeing how changing the DNS server corrected the issue then I know some others must have encountered this so I am once again disgusted by the complete lack of support and knowledge. This has got to get better people.
DNS requests, no matter how slow, will not slow your transfer speeds. You certainly might have an initial delay prior to caching the DNS entries locally, but you were seeing something else.
If you can't open it, you don't own it.
