joprog posted : Thanks MicroBell for the speedy response. I gave this a shot and while I was (of course) able to connect to the linksys, I didn't seem to have any internet connection on either my wired or wireless devices even though the light on the linksys said I did.

I needed to get some work done, so I reset the sagem for now and will attempt more again later.

If you or anyone else have any ideas about what I might have missed on this first attempt, please let me know. Thanks again.

MicroBell posted : I did this awhile ago so I may miss something but this is what I did using the 1704 as a modem and a Linksys 54GS router.

Log into the 1704 and there is a setting in there that says "Bridge Mode" and that needs to be checkmarked. Be advise that the orginal firmware for the 1704 will lock you out of the settings screen once this is set....but if you ever need to get back in just "reset" the modem.

Then I logged into the Linksys modem and changed the "Internet Connection Type" to PPPoE (was on DHCP). That was the only changes I used as the 1704 now becomes a "dumb" modem and you'll use the linksys to handle the connection.

joprog posted : My Sagem 1704 keeps dropping my wireless device connections. I would like to set it up as a modem only and use a linksys router for my wireless connectivity. I've read a little bit about bridging but I don't know exactly how to set up the ip addresses since the Sagem uses the 192.168.254.x range and the linksys uses the 192.168.1.x range. How should I set this up? Thanks!
