Re: Valor will NOT be converted in 5.2 Learn to see grey.
if you consider items that aren't replaced easily or are just awesome (IE DMF)
once the loot list for 5.2 is out it'll be more useful And VP capping is easy, plus you won't be able to buy new VP gear till you raid rep grind -- »Death Star Petition |

Current upgraded 2/2 Malevolent gear will be better than 5.2 honor Malevolent.
Current 0/2 Malevolent gear will be worse than 5.2 honor Malevolent gear. |

if you consider items that aren't replaced easily or are just awesome (IE DMF) .... Don't spend your Valor unless you're capped.
They took out upgrades to avoid confusion. Blizzard wants people to understand new PvE gear is better than old gear (even if upgraded).
Valor doesn't reset, therefore don't use it unless you're capped.
Period. |

It is 100% why they removed upgrades temporarily.
And now you're further confusing members on this forum.
If you want to provide proof that ______ item is better than new _____ by all means. But I believe you're speaking out of your butt and confusing others.

Current upgraded 2/2 Malevolent gear will be better than 5.2 honor Malevolent. Current 0/2 Malevolent gear will be worse than 5.2 honor Malevolent gear. I just went on MMO and read the blue post and yea WTF the new Malv honor gear will be better than the current.
I thought they said the opposite before. |

But in my opinion it'd make sense to make the new honor just barely below 2/2 upgrades, so I believe that's what we'll see in 5.2 |

Just making sure everyone understands that they should continue to attempt to go into patch honor capped (If you care about PvP that is, if not don't worry about it). |

 | reply to Snuffbox If the honor gear will be better than current Malv could it be any good for a fresh 90 to cheese into LFR ? I have not pve'd at all but wouldnt this change make the new honor gear better than the heroic dungeon gear? |
|
Snuffboxir nice irlPremium join:2011-04-15 Milwaukee, WI kudos:4 | Yes and no.
They keep the item levels of PvP gear below that of PvE for that reason.
Aditionally as I'm sure you're aware. The PvP Power and PvP Resilience do nothing in Raids/Dungeons so that's meant to be a further deterrent to wearing the incorrect gear in either instance.
But ultimately you're right, whichever is easier to obtain at the time will become the "welfare epics" and it's unavoidable at some level. |

JobbieKeep It SimplePremium join:2010-08-24 Mexico kudos:1 | Yeah all it matters for LFR is item level fresh 90s now have the option to get Malevolent pieces to speed the gearing up process a little bit. -- Judge a man by the trials of his shield, not the empty reaping of his sword. |

and consider most won't even be able to buy any of the new VP items for a week or so in. Dark, I'm being purely logical. If you're correct and an old piece is better, then historically you can still purchase that old piece even after 5.2 has hit so it'd still be wise to wait.
I'm sorry if that's not what you did, doesn't justify suggesting that to others.
Again, the only time you should be spending your Valor is if you're capped (or about to be obviously). |
|
 | reply to Snuffbox I know the pvp stats do nothing but most of that gear still has good basic stats: str, int, sta, and like you say honor is soo easy to get and then you can buy every slot you need without trying for drops. |
|
Snuffboxir nice irlPremium join:2011-04-15 Milwaukee, WI kudos:4 | Yes.
Most of my toons don't have PvE gear these days. If I join a Raid I'm often in full PvP gear. My Warrior pulls aggro off tanks occasionally even in PvP gear so the system isn't perfect. (My rogue hits like a wet noodle in PvE or PvP gear.) |

Snuffboxir nice irlPremium join:2011-04-15 Milwaukee, WI kudos:4 | Or you could look at recount and remove those that are underperfoming rather than sticking your nose up simply because someone in the group has PvP gear on.
Never remotely near bottom DPS despite my gear, it would be comical to be filtered out because someone inspected and found out I had zomg PvP gear on.
Conversely I enjoy when PvP players discover certain PvE set bonuses that benefit them in some way in PvP. |
