[KY] Mediacom constantly going down

I have had Mediacom service for 14 days now. During that time we have had 6 outages lasting at least 8 hours. And we have had 3 Outtages of 12+ hours. Tonight is probably the worst. Since 6pm We have shown we hae internet, yet loading pages constantly times out. We have done the reboot of the modem and router twice but still can't hardly do anything online... Plus half of our cable channels just plum went black. Of course I have called them multiple times just to be told there are outages being reported, and there is nothing else they can do at this time.

I droped AT&T because their serice had constant slow downs, and switched to Mediacom in hopes of better service. Looks like I switched to worse service. I am rarely ever able to speak to an actual person which really aggravates me.

Another issue has to do with their email servers... Which are whacko... I try to check my email every day.. So far I have actually been able to log into my email maybe 3 times since feburary 1st. Almost every time I go to login it tells me my password / login name is invalid. Considering I keep my password saved, I know the login I am preforming is correct..

I have worked as an IT tech.. Most services are redundant from servers in general.. But I am wondering if Mediacom in Kentucky has an redundancy built into their servers..

Really aggravated at this time with their service. If this type of problems continue, I will be switching back.

PS it has taken an hour so far to get this posted!!!

I apologize for the issues. I am not seeing any major ongoing issues that should be causing this - but I am seeing overnight maintenance being done on a couple of days. Can you send me a PM with your telephone# or account# so I can check into this for you?

Since Mediacom has a 90 day money back guarantee I would give this a lot of thought. Mediacom consistently rates worst of the worst for ISP satisfaction. Getting any problem fixed can be an exercise in futility. MediacomChad who resides here can be helpful. However when I asked him for help a few weeks ago he gave me a Tech service date of 2 1/2 weeks in the future.

Maybe some customers think waiting for internet help 2 1/2 weeks is satisfactory service. I do not. I still am plagued with intermittent dropouts with no help in sight. I have tried getting help from the telephone support. After many tries I have never gotten a real live person to talk too. I complained once again to MediacomChad and he said "there is a service issue that we are working on now". Uh huh, I am still waiting for my problems to be fixed after almost a month of frustration.

I have been with Mediacom for a year now. Up until a month ago all was fine. The problem arises when you need service. I have found there is a reason Mediacom has such a low satisfaction score in spite of MediacomChads efforts.

II I had to do it all over again I would have taken Mediacom up on their 90 day guarantee and stayed with DSL. Right now I am contemplating switching back to DSL and take the Mediacom ETF hit. I am getting tired of everyday disconnects with no end in sight.

My advice - If you need service on Mediacom internet be prepared for being patient.

Well I tried to pm you about the issues, and recieved a message that new members could not PM. Not sure if the pm was sent or not. Today the service is back up and working. The problems yesterday started at 4pm central time.. And It was not fixed until 6:30am. I even had channels on my cable service that were simply black during this time.

I did not receive a message. I am happy to hear the services are back up. There was an outage in some of our KY regions yesterday that may have been causing the issue. I show that your profile says Nortonville. If that is correct then I would say the outage was causing your issue.

Yeah waiting two and a half weeks to get service done sucks. The problem with Mediacom is they service a lot of tiny places spread over a large area and sometimes you may have 1 tech servicing 3 small towns etc. Sometimes they don't even have a tech in your town on certain dates etc.

Not saying this makes it OK but trying to explain why.

It is a chicken and egg thing in my town. Mediacom has such a poor rep for service they have few customers. They can't get more customers unless they improve the service. They can't improve the service because they have so few customers.

I can't imagine waiting 2 1/2 weeks for Mediacom TV service repair or (HORRORS) Mediacom telephone repair. Yet another reason why I would NEVER consider Mediacom for a service I absolutely have to have working....

Here we go again.. Internet will sometimes connect to sites and then sometimes it won't. Checked the mediacom support page, and there are no reported service happening in my area. But when trying to just browse to a page, it may take ten attempts before the page actually comes up. Mediacom internet is like gambling... Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Why is this so comon of a problem?

I would definitely have the people behind chad check it out.

On top of that, I would try (if you're comfortable doing it) changing your DNS to something besides mediacoms. (make sure to write them down before hand) like google DNS, (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) or opendns, etc..

Phill, I am still picking up an issue with the upstream signal in the area and this is being checked further into. In the meantime, have you noticed any problems with your connection since Sunday?

Phill_lee,

The tech supervisor was looking over your signals and wants to swap your modem out. Can we do this for you?
