He makes a number of good points, including the fact that Facebook is just the poster child here. Other sites that want you to trust their expertise are just as poorly run.

Those expertise sites...please give an example of one of them. If you're referring to sites like Facebook, this is just another reason not to have an account there, but me thinks that you mean other than social sites.
