[OS X] any way to not make all day event by default in calendar

Is there anyway to NOT make the default entry on the calendar an "all day" event? When I double click the calendar day, it auto makes an all day event and i have to double click on the entry and uncheck auto and then add the time. A few extra steps.

Hmmm, it does not do that for me and I can't see options to set it any certain way.

Just add the time with the title. Example : Meeting 1030am - 1145am and hit enter. Your calendar will automatically set it self to that time frame. Hope this is what you we're looking for ...

Go to preferences and under alerts, chose All Day Events, select none.

Also, you can look at the event. Right click and pick, Get Info. There is a box near the top that says all-day and uncheck the box.

also if you are using the new Calendar app instead of iCal you can click the plus sign in the upper left and type for example "Meeting at 7pm on Friday" and it will auto create a 1 hour event on the next friday at 7pm with the title Meeting.

I find that if I just double click on the date and time of my appointment, the app chooses the correct time, but if you just double click on the very top of the date, it will make an all-day event automatically.

In full month view, all events are all day by default. In Weekly or daily view, they are one hour long, starting on the time you click.
