 | Found Motorola SB6121 @ rakuten.com Hi ,
Planning to go to teksavvy Extreme Cable 20 so I am now shopping for a modem.
I found the modem at rakuten.com @ 78$ (shipping incl. to the border )
Is the website trustable ? Should I buy it ? or go another place like TigerDirect or Newegg ?
Or should I buy locally in case I got some issues ??
Thanks for advice |

| reply to curvenut You may want to go with the Thompson (Technicolor?) DCM476. As far as I know it is the only approved modem on Rogers network that supports 8x4 bonding (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Better future proofing for future speed upgrades on the network.
Motorola has also stopped manufacturing the SB6121 (so I was informed) which explains why it has dried up at many Canadian retailers, including NewEgg Canada and Canada Computers. Rogers hasn't authorized Motorola's more recent offerings, a sad shame. |

 | What is teksavvy's price for the Thompson (Technicolor?) DCM476 ? So if i buy the modem with teksavvy, instead of paying 85 activation fee, I pay 65$. |

 | reply to curvenut Pretty sure the activation is $65, or $45 with the discount. |

| Ah you're right, according to Technicolor's data sheet the DCM475 is 8x4 as well.
So you could go with either or, although getting the DCM476 from TekSavvy and saving the $20 is probably the best choice.
Hey TSI Martin, do you think Rogers will ever allow Motorola's SB6141 or SB6181 on their network? |

| reply to TSI Martin SB6141 = 8x4 bonded channels , uses same firmware as SB6120/SB6121 SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.1-SCM00-NOSH - SB6141 is NOT approved.
- No one is interested in raising the $8K+ it takes to put it into the modem approval proccess. Sadly, cause I'd just love to join a group effort to get this done.
- Firmware flashing might need to be done down the road. -- ----|- From the mind located in the shadows of infinity -|---- Nine.Zero.Burp.Nine.Six Twitter = Twizted Zero Chat = irc.teksavvy.ca |

 | I guess I will stick with Technicolor DCM476 |
