My Grandma is going to get a medical monitoring system for when she falls. I am thinking of either this or ADT medical monitoring. She is prone to falls and her husband has dementia. She is home bound unless she is being taken out by the social worker or when I'm up there.
Which is a better solution. Her home phone is a VoIP connection through Time Warner.
I am thinking the VZW Sure Response is a better solution as it uses the cellular network and not dependent on premises power (VoIP adapter lacks a battery) but I'd like opinions.
-- I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner. They are much better than broadcast TV.
reply to IowaCowboy Hi, I bought a sure response system for my mom and I am very disappointed. She had a stroke and has limited use of her right hand. The sure response must be charged daily to keep the charge. They advertise that it lasts up to 4 days but my experience has been that it is 24-36 hours. The person therefore, need to be responsible and capable and without the device for approximately the 2 hours needed to charge it. In order to charge it, my mom would have to take it off the necklace, put it into another holder and connect it to the base. She can't do it on her own and I can't come over everyday. Verizon will not take it back because it is over 14 days. It was partly my fault as I didn't set it up right away to try it. Verizon has very little compassion and refuses to let me return it without a $200 early termination and restocking fee. You are much better off with a different system that does not require constant recharging.
