[OS X] 10.5.8

I am trying to upgrade this box I have at work to Moutain Lion but I couldn't, so I was told I needed Lion but it still says I can't? What can I upgrade to?

it's all going to depend on what hardware you have. Regardless though you will need to upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) before Lion or Mt Lion.

I think you need to put Snow Leopard on it first and then Lion if you want to upgrade.

You're able to go directly from Snow to ML. But you do need Snow.

OS X Mountain Lion system requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:

iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)

Your Mac needs:

OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

Looks like (since it isn't an aluminum MacBook), you can't go to ML. You could go to Lion, if you wanted to. See this: »discussions.apple.com/th ··· tstart=0

It can be hacked.......there is a hack out there for pre 64 bit EFI Intel Mac's.......but, i wouldn't bother.....ML...and to a lesser extent Lion NEED at least 3-4GB of RAM to even function.....and some early Intel Mac's will (can) onlu use 2GB max.....or 3 if you are lucky.....
