2 edits | [Pets] catnipped! or I had a bad day (night shift edition) ow ow ow don't touch that | that gonna leave a mark | waiting for the vet to open |
Murry the purr-y had a bad night. When we awoke this morning Murry was lying quietly in the living room in a pool of blood (well quite a number of splotches at various places on the carpet and a 6 inch puddle in his usual spot on the couch.) Our initial guess was an animal bite (coyotes and large owls are very active at night here) particularly after my found a partially eaten rabbit across the street from our driveway. His normal vet doesn't open til 9 and the 24 hour one already had to emergencies going on. so we kept still until nine when he could go to the vet to be fit in, in between other surgeries. After several hours they report.. Murry appears to have been hit by a car, X-rays showed a chip off the pelvis but no surgery is needed. He can come home tonight around 4-5, but will have a severe bruise/abrasion and a drain in the wound for 3 days PLUS he will have to wear an Elizabethan collar until the drain is out (so he doesn't yank it out)
A very luck (and expensive) kitty. We may need to shave Donald Trump to make him a merkin (hair piece to cover the naughty bits) for a while
I guess this means tree and ladder climbing may be off limits reduced for a while |
|
 | I just hope he comes out OK |

1 edit | he's back, still coming out of deep sedation (has to stay and the airline travel cage until tomorrow (against advise we let him out briefly to change the pee soaked padding something the vet people say isn't a problem(with the collar he can't even lick himself clean, and being a really clean cat he hates), he is happier a quieter now but still wants out. his butt is REALLY bald, and puffy (there was one deep puncture and one slash the vet thought may have caused by the car dragging him and needed cleaning) but the prognosis is he should be good as old in 2 weeks or so. |

| Unfortunately we may need to go back to the vet today, somehow he managed to pull the drain out overnight (porous flexible rubbery tube like a drinking straw about 7 inches long) but he's a little better a trying hard to clean what he can reach. My own feeling is it's not worth torturing him another surgery and anesthetic to replace the tube (which seem to have questionable value in most human surgeries other than faster swelling reduction, MAYBE) and just let him lick and clean as cats normally do, if the cleaned it thoroughly the 14 day antibiotic shot should take care of any the remaining germs, but we'll see what the say. |

 I feel a draft. |
"Honey, Does this dress Collar make my butt look Big bald ?" Saturday update. vet said it probably ok without the drain just to watch it and he has to keep the collar on until the stitches are out about 7-8 more days, EXCEPT under direct supervision for eating and cleaning/licking (not around the stitches!). |

2 edits | reply to tshirt sunday update cat vet left a message that the Certified Forensic Radiologist ( means he gets $90) sent back his report no additional fractures and the small piece is fine and will likely reabsorb and may be some future arthritis is possible (10 or 15 years from now means he survived fine Also the wound is consistant with a canine bite (We were right!) not a car strike.
right after we heard that my wife looks out the kitchen window a see a large coyote marking territory and sniffing around out in the field, so she runs out at 8 am on a quiet sunday in her nightgown throwing rock and screaming "I'll kill you" (this is someone who doesn't like killing flies and other pests, as it disturbs the natural balance) I'm sure the new neighbors to the south think shes nuts, I know the coyote does.
squeaky is more mobile licked for a hour at a time (4 hours total cleaning) still tender but feeling a bit better. |

Grow pants grow! | Catnip? what catnip? |
still on house arrest while my claws and 'pants' grow back. occasional the warden puts me in leg irons (leash and body harness) and goes outside with me.
Silly humans have no skills like hiding under rhododendrons when it rains, or drinking out of the pond.
At least we have NatGeo HD and animal planet to watch |

new short pants | sunshine, makes me happy | stoned again... naturally |
So at 3 weeks, my pants are look less like peach fuzz and more like something warm ('cept my belly is still pretty bare) and I get work release during daylight hours while mom is at work (but they take my food away so I'll come in for the night before dark) Today I went on a car ride, over to Grandma's who fractured her skull at the movie theater, but is back from the hospital now.
I like the car, but her kitchen is scary big, and it may take a few more trips before I look around too much. Home sweet home! |

1 edit | I don't know, I see them all on several computers. you may have some download restrictions? or other limiting factor? If you right click on the missing/middle picture what do the properties say? does right click/show picture do anything? or reloading the page? or reloading the last post only? Is anybody else seeing not seeing what William is seeing? or know the answer?
They all should be .Jpeg's of 102-180 KB all taken with an Olympus xz-1 and edited from the fine jpg saves (it also saves RAW)
I'm using ie10 on win7 and I don't restrict file size. |

| reply to sashwa Yes, black eye (well side of head) and a skull fracture kept her in the hospital for a few days, unfortunately my dad just had a shoulder replacement and she was the designated driver for the next month. she is now cleared to drive so that's ok (this time anyway, it isn't her first trip to the cat scanner getting old is rough (she just hit 80)
Btw "Lincoln" the movie is not "to die for" I blame John Wilkes Booth, or maybe it was Mrs White in the drawing room with a lead pipe. |

The only thing I see different about those is the original picture titles (on my computer) has an apostrophe in 1 and a comma in the other. punctuation in a title, (and in the file header COULD trip an AV/Trojan scanner response) how are these? |
