[WIN8] After sleep mode, won't wake up

If I let my computer go to sleep by pushing the wireless keyboard sleep button or setting power settings and it timing out, no matter how much I move my mouse or keyboard, it won't wake up, and I have to hold my power button for several seconds are power boot again.

I looked at the usb settings in the power console, but I don't see any setting there.

I have an ASROCK mainboard (don't recall the model off hand) and a Phenom II. Is this because my hardware is too old?

Possibly the wireless USB keyboard doesn't work to wake it because USB is powered down on sleep.

This is usually an option in the BIOS to allow wake on USB or to keep USB powered on sleep/power off.

Yes, I looked in BIOS for that, didn't see it. Will have to look again.

Does it wake up with a wired USB keyboard or mouse? If so, then it's possible it's the wireless keyboard/dongle that doesn't support it.

I don't have a wired keyboard, believe me, I would try that if I did. Waiting for one to arrive, in fact.

I want to know if there are any other possiblities to this.

Those are your only possibilities

* usb is powered off on sleep and doesn't have a BIOS option to remain powered

or

* wireless dongle you are using doesn't support wake from sleep even if powered

Look this thread over, even though its old (vista, gag) the things to check are there. In that guy's case it was a BIOS setting...
