[Cable HSI] Dropped TV, Now Upload and Modem Signal Levels Messe

After over 25 years of Mediacom TV service I dropped it and went to DirecTV. The Mediacom TV service has been almost unwatchable for 2 years now. Many service calls, Mediacom Chad has tried to help, but in the end I'm not paying for TV I can't watch. I'm keeping the HSI, as the only alternative is ATT DSL. I have the 20-2 service. Today Mediacom came out and put a "block" on my line because of the termination of TV. Now my upload speed seems to be limited to 1mb and the modem signal levels are horrible.

Have rebooted everything, taken router out, tried 2 other modems. Same result.

I can't believe it has come to this.

Re: [Cable HSI] Dropped TV, Now Upload and Modem Signal Levels M

Could be a bad trap or barrel/fitting. Not common but it happens every once in a while.

Two Mediacom techs came out this morning to install my Mediacom phone service (I really am trying to give Mediacom all the business I can), and when they measured the signal levels said the phone would not work like this. They checked the trap installed and said the wrong trap had been installed, the tap was labeled wrong, and something about a splitter installed up there. They corrected all this and now signal levels are all normal, however; upload speed still at 1mb (half what it was 3 weeks ago before they worked on the cable down the street trying to get the TV working correctly). The work order these techs had was for telephone install, so they weren't interested in the internet speed.

Will see what happens.

Hello rabrack,

If you would like I can take a look at the upstream speeds you are getting. Feel free to private message me here.

Good morning, I came in to an update on this today. The Tech Ops Supervisor had a lead tech out to replace the tap and re-balance the amp. I'm not sure if they followed up with you directly, but I wanted to touch base with you here. How are things looking?
