Re: [Connectivity] SL / Netflix / CDN

Again, that's the craptastic FAQ. Doesn't say anything about if it's in 5.1, or what actual devices can do it other than the consoles, a roku, and assorted random devices. Have been searching and the best I can find is a couple mismatched postings about POSSIBLY 3 panasonic players that can stream in 5.1 from Netflix. I really don't understand why they insist on making it hell to find a decent player.

The WiiU can do 1080p and is listed as a supported device. Thanks for your input though.

I tried to find a Super HD video to test on my network-enabled Vizio TV. The first one I ran across is a snowboarding video, Art Of Flight. WOW!!! The first few seconds streamed at SD, then it kicked up to "Medium HD", then "Fast HD" and after nearly a minute it switched to "X-High HD" (Or something to that effect. It didn't say "Super"). The picture detail is amazing... I checked the realtime bandwidth on my router and it was jumping to over 7 Mbps frequently and appears to use right around 50 MB per minute. (I would imagine this number changes, depending on the actual movie, due to the way compression algorithms handle scene changes, motion, etc).

All in all, I'm quite impressed with the quality of the picture. Now if the studios would just let Netflix buy the rights to better content...
