Re: Unlimited Internet option on Rogers for a limited time

said by elec999:

Sorry to kickin,,, was anyone able to get a good deal not $30 with only internet service?

Only way is to get a retention discount added and then the $30 unlimited so it works out to $10, but it all depends on the willingness of the rep. Its worth a try.

Assuming the promo code for unlimited doesn't kick out the other discounts.

That's not how retention discounts work for residential services. For residential, retention deals offer a certain percentage off certain tiers of service, and rental equipment. These deals are set in stone, and the rep basically selects the best offer based on the customer's eligibility. If there are no offers in the list that discounts the product that the customer wants or by the amount that the customer wants, then everyone is SOL.

There is no promo code for unlimited, it's a completely separate internet tier with no usage cap. It will work with any existing promotion, but any percentage based discounts will discount based on the price of the capped tier.

I signed up for unlimited internet yesterday. I have cable, internet and wireless, all with Rogers. My Rogers bill is in excess of $200 a month. I asked for the $10 unlimited but I was told I don't qualify because I don't have Rogers home phone. I ended up having to pay $30 and I downgraded my internet package to make up the difference.

I could have threatened to cancel my service unless I got the $10 deal but somehow I don't think that it would have worked. It is like arguing about prices with the person working the cash register at Wal-mart. They just push the buttons, they don't set the prices.

Excellent analogy.

I called today and the rep could not tell me if my 70% discount would apply to the $30 dollars. If I am reading correctly to your post, the $30 dollars cannot be discounted 70% for $9.00?.

Now if Rogers and Bell could do something about the ludicrous mobile internet cap that would be great.

Well if everything goes according to plan then tomorrow will be the big day. I'm really hoping to see unlimited tomorrow morning on My Rogers portal instead of the current cap. Fingers crossed!

To be clear this is not a $30 add on for unlimited. These are completely different tiers that offer you unlimited usage. If you sign up you will have one line item on your bill. For example if you have Express it will say Express $81.99 not Express $51.99 and Unlimited Usage Add on $30. However, if you have discounts, it will discount based on the capped tier, so you will see Express $81.99 and then a $36.40 discount (70%) not a $57.40 discount.

A little disappointing, but thanks for clearing it up.

I honestly believe that Rogers is hiding, or otherwise making it difficult and costly to obtain, so that it can point out to low adoption rates and say "See people do not need unlimited internet -- our caps are justified". Just wait.

So I just ordered the express unlimited and added RHP because it's cheaper than NOT adding RHP.

Had Extreme+ less 30% *****52.5$$****

Upgraded to Express Ultimate (which is what they are calling the tier)
61.99 less 30% *******43.4$$$*******

ADDED Rogers Home phone as they have a deal 9.99 (no features) for 2 years...not even going to use the damn thing...****9.99$$$*****

43.4 + 9.99 = 53.39 (less than a dollar more than I'm paying)

Without adding home phone 51.99 + 30 less 30% = 57.4

There is an installation fee that they will say they can't waive. I called sales and they told me they couldn't waive it. Talked to customer care and they said they would.

to confirm what ur saying, they have a express unlimited/ultimate for 61.99
you only needed to rhp to get the unlimited option, but dont you have to pay $30 extra unless u have triple play
are those prices available for new customers
im confused

Too late for me Elise. Although I really like the professionalism of the Social Media team at Rogers, the packages that they make you push are greedy.

I'm a 20 year Rogers customer and I've left with a very sour taste in my mouth because of the whole usage issue.

We've been lied to about why the caps are in place, and the overage charges are so overpriced that I can barely walk for a week after I receive my Rogers bill.

The cracks in the dam are showing... pretty soon all packages will be unlimited because Rogers can't stop the momentum. When more competition starts to lower prices, I'll never consider Rogers as an option because of the way we've been treated.

Nothing can sweeten the sour taste Rogers has left in my mouth.

express = 51.99
express unl + tv = 81.99 for internet
express unl + tv + rhp = 61.99 for internet

So it's cheaper to take the home phone @ 10 and pay for the 10 dollar unlimited option rather than paying 30 and not taking RHP.

so "express unl + tv + rhp = 61.99 for internet" the 61.99 is just for the internet not the price for the complete triple play

So has the unlimited bandwidth kicked in for anyone yet? How will we be able to verify if it has been placed in our account?
