Re: Unlimited Internet option on Rogers for a limited timesaid by elitefx:NOW: Granted, this "unlimited" cap on Rogers part means nothing in the short term to anyone. What it does reflect in is the Big picture. This is just another example of Rogers saying one thing and doing another. Unlimited is unlimited, nothing less. Any sort of cap is unacceptable be it enforced or not. Are you smoking crack? The value given for the "unlimited" cap is somewhere between 1 PETABYTE and 1 PEBIBYTE (It looks like they used 1 quadrillion bytes (SI petabyte), and divided by 1024000000 (cross between SI and binary gigabyte) to get the value in gigabytes, which is why the result is somewhere between the 10^15 and 2^50 bytes). Not only does that mean nothing in the short term, but it means nothing for the foreseeable future as well. Do you know what kind of speeds you would have to sustain 24 hours per day for 31 days to exceed that cap in a given month? Google does: » www.google.ca/search?q=9 ··· r+secondFor those that don't want to check the link, the answer is just shy of 3000 megabits per second. I know it's fun to bash Rogers and all, but there must be better things to attack than a cap that will not be exceeded for many MANY years to come. |

absolutely not true. i've got the cisco dpc3825, which is $7/month and can get unlimited on all plans, as they were about to give me unlimited on the old ultimate plan last night. only upgrade required is for the new 150/10. so don't just state something that's a lie for others to take at your word. |

Is it possible to get unlimited with the DPC3825? They are saying I have to "upgrade" to the Hitron modem. |

It isn't BS if the rogers system won't allow you to upgrade to unlimited without the Hi-Tron. Has anyone upgraded to unlimited with the Cisco DPC? |

Well the person submitted a form for ultimate for me, on the SMC modem. Just sharing my exp. Said I should get it within 3-5 days. I thought it was going to be an instant change starting on the 19th? |

don't hold your breath. i called saturday, had the form filled out, nothing on file but my cable cancellation request when the RogersHelps team looked into it last night. might as well call and get it done right away. |

not sure. it was a long time between responses for a bit. i questioned the $152.99 as i was on the older plan since nobody wanted to confirm that i could get 150/10 here in ottawa (i already knew it was available in kanata). never mentioned the modem change, but i suppose that would've been where the conversation went had i agreed to the ultimate package. 35 down is fine for me, before i switched to rogers for internet i was on 6 down with acanac dsl, so i've just been plan hopping as usage needs change for the caps. i'll take $65 unlimited at 35 down over $92 for ultimate speed that i don't really need. edit: sorry, you can get unlimited with the cisco box, however i cannot confirm if unlimited ultimate is available. |

Wrong buddy, they will not give unlimited to me just because I have ultimate, home phone, and cable TV. I have already contacted the office of the president and its a no go even from them (yyzlhr was right), they ARE false advertising! Its only available to plans lower then ultimate. Here is what they had to say: "You are correct in that the details on the Rogers.com website indicate that you can add unlimited internet to any package. With that said, as was discussed earlier, the details as to how unlimited usage is attained for the different tiers is explained in the links provided on that same page. This is not false advertising; you were advised earlier what would be required to have unlimited usage on the Ultimate tier [downgrade to extreme plus or cancel home phone or cancel cable tv]. However, I do apologize if the wording on the page has confused matters. You have my assurance that your feedback will be forwarded to our Planning department in order to review how the details are explained, to ensure the specifications are provided in a clear and concise manner." As you can see they are just being stubborn as if having two services vs three services makes a difference. |

it's still available to anyone with the cisco router, which is what i stated. the fact that you can't obtain it as a customer with other services, is a different story. but it is an actual fact that it can be obtained by someone with the cisco router. see my previous post with a direct screenshot with confirmation from the RogersHelps team on Twitter. nothing stopped me from upgrading to unlimited ultimate with the cisco router last night, except the fact that a) RogersHelps closed for the night and b) i downgraded my plan. |

I can understand why they'd want to charge a premium for the ultimate tier, but to prevent your loyal triple play customers from getting it, is just stupid. |

Except for internet, wireless and maybe TV I don't know why you'd want to get anything else from Rogers.. |

system of limitations. and no, it's not until march 31st. you see that in my screenshot for month-to-date usage? nope. since their data usage reporting is full of fail, they need a way to report it for record keeping purposes. that's what the answer always is. record keeping purposes. it works for almost everything else, right? |

you clearly missed the part where my confirmation e-mail shows hi-speed extreme ultimate until april 18th (end of the next billing cycle)... it doesn't say that unlimited stops automagically on march 31st.
where are your facts to back up your words, or those supposedly said by Rogers? |

Unlimited Internet option on Rogers for a limited time Hi everybody.
I've got great news to share today. As of Feb. 19, Rogers will be offering an unlimited Internet option to our customers for a limited time, until March 31, 2013. Heres how it works: Customers who currently subscribe to TV, Internet and home phone can add unlimited Internet usage to their account for an additional $10 a month Customers who currently subscribe to only one or two of these services (TV, Internet or home phone) can add unlimited Internet usage to their account for an additional $30 a month
Customers can sign up by visiting their local Rogers store or calling 1-888-Rogers1 to add the unlimited usage option to their plan and it will take effect as of Feb. 19.
Further details will be available on Rogers.com later this afternoon.
Total 976562 GB Used 102.03 GB Remaining 976459.97 GB |

really? you don't understand that it's a limited time promotional offer, as in if you don't add it to the account before the offer period ends, you don't get to add it? that's typically how promotional offers work, like any other sales deal. |
|

so when does it run till ? April ? Also I paying $30 Because i'm On The high extreme Plan |

if you've added the unlimited add-on, look at your confirmation e-mail. it does not state an end-date for the service. just like if you were to go to your wireless carrier and add an unlimited text add-on for $20/month to go with your existing rate plan, unless it's a 50% off discount on that $20 service, you pay the $20 service until either you cancel, or change up your service. from what i've been able to confirm myself over the phone with Rogers, and from basic understanding, the $30 unlimited add-on promo doesn't have an end date as of yet. there certainly are no terms i have received from rogers that state it ends any time soon. and the moment they bring in a change of terms notice, just call 'em up and demand something better or walk away. simple as that, really. |

ok thanks $30.00 A lot Better then paying $100 lol |

absolutely it is!
lets just see how long this actually lasts. they've canned unlimited before, nothing saying they won't can it again (at this point in time anyway). one day, Canada won't suck when it comes to service providing in the digital world. one day. I just hope most of us are young enough to enjoy it when that day comes. |
