I submit that the benefit to Rogers users will only be to a SELECT FEW and will in no way improve the customer experience/affordability for the vast majority.

Which still means it's a step in the right direction.

I don't think any of us here are trying to argue that they don't have (a lot) further to go beyond this offer.

Thanks for the information Elise, it sounds like a great offer. Here's what I'm currently receiving from my ISP;

28/1 unlimited (the unlimited is included, I don't pay a penalty for using the product more)
Free VPN (not logged)
Free 100gb online storage
Free month of service with each referral (after 10, free service).

For this I pay $49 a month with tax (reduced currently to less than $40 with referrals). Hopefully your customers paying three times that find this news to be great, I find it to be barely a good start.

I am pretty sure this promotion only lasts until March 31 because that is the week that the head of Rogers and the head of Bell have their lunch. I am sure the convo will be something like this;

Rogers CEO: WTF Man! Why you screwing us? How are we supposed to sell absurd low bandwidth plans, with high speeds, and convince the public its because of a looming available bandwidth crunch?

Bell CEO: Well, we were losing customers because we didn't want to invest in our network and bring faster speeds using the latest backends, and real fibre to our customers. So to stop it, we had to use the unlimited bandwidth thing. Customers got too damn smart, and realized our lie about our fibre optic network only being to the last mile, and not to their home, and that nothing really changed.

Rogers CEO: Well, sh1t man, why couldn't you tell me your plan when we bought MLSE together?

Bell CEO: I forgot!

Rogers CEO: Ok, well lets stop this unlimited stuff ok? We need to sell this over priced usage crap. Tell you what, we will lower our monthly bandwidth quotas to our customers, so we can even it out a bit ok? You have slower speeds, but a bit higher monthly limit, we will have faster speeds, lower monthly limit!

Bell CEO: Kewl! What do you want to buy next to screw Canadians?

Rogers CEO: I am thinking DSLreports, those fuckers are educating too many people. FAWK!

So if you're only an internet subscriber without any other services, you cannot add this?

See 2nd bullet point - it's $30.

Yeah, I misread it...

So the exact "monkey-see monkey-do" option like Bell...

How the hell is this not collusion?

Customers on Express and up have to carry the Enhanced modem ($8/mo) to get the unlimited usage --- sucks for anyone that already bought the Wireless N Gateway

Try calling them again. Point out that the website says "Now you can add unlimited internet to any package too!". No mention in the fine print of 150/10 not being eligible.

Demand to speak to a manager if they still say no.

You're already paying over $200, what's another $100.

Tell them to piss off, and send them to their own website which states this"Rogers already gives you the fastest Hi-Speed Internet in the most homes with speeds up to 150Mbps1 on our Ultimate package. Now you can add unlimited internet to any package too! Download, upload, and stream without worrying!"

Rogers told me that due to me being on the higher upload Extreme Plus (45/7) service, my upload speeds would be lowered to the standard 4Mbps upload if I took the unlimited option.

Does anyone else who has the higher upload speeds than the standard ones able to add unlimited?

I chose not to take unlimited due to them having to lower my upload speed to 4Mbps.

LOL, guess Rogers cannot even communicate a new package properly to their agents. It says crystal clear, any package, on their website.

Unlimited for ultimate is not available to triple play customers. Only to internet and internet and TV/home phone customers.

My god does anyone know what's going on at that company? The loyal customers who are actually willing to take advantage of this are already getting screwed?

It has to be Home Phone, they don't consider wireless part of bundles.

Is it true that people with a discount aren't eligible? I'd be happy to pay $30 less %70.
