| [T-Mobile] Was merger with MetroPCS good for consumers? I suspect not. As evidenced by many unhappy consumers on the T-Mobile Support Forums and Consumer Affairs. Problems began to arise in mid-November with complaints of data service switching from 4G to 2G, or no data service at all; often downloads just plain stall or fail to start. Could this be due to MetroPC servers coming on line? At any rate, something is happening with T-Mobile service. Recently, these problems have worsened as consumers now complain about frequent dropped calls and failure to connect whether incoming or outgoing.
Some consumers have attempted to cancel their contracts with T-Mobile, due to poor service, only to find that there is a cancellation fee of $200 as the Customer Service Reps deny that there are any problems. Unfortunately, consumer experience seems to conflict with official stories.
There seems to be no resolution to these problems. Support technicians deflect the problems that consumers are experiencing by suggesting that users connect to their WiFi's which defeats the purpose of having cell service in the first place and doesn't solve the problem when roaming. CSR's claim that their engineers cannot find any problems, but I beg to differ. The similarity in consumer complaints is consistent and shows a marked decrease in consumer satisfaction of late.
T-Mobile's advertising claim of having the most reliable 4G network appears to be just advertising and conflicts with the experience of some customers. I have also made numerous complaints to T-Mobile without any resolution as well. My contract is up in June and I will not be renewing. I hope that this review will help those who are now considering a contract with T-Mobile. -- Today's scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality. ~ Nikola Tesla |

| No integration with metropcs and t-mobile has even started yet. It's a bit off. (It hasn't been approved yet.) I would be willing to bet it's due to t-mobile launching PCS HSPA+ service. Many old phones don't get PCS HSPA+. Just the original AWS HSPA+. Firmware and radio upgrades done OTA are helping and once it's all done in your area, it does go back to normal.
Keep in mind they are also at the same time building out an LTE network too!
edit: and in my area of San Diego, once they launched the PCS HSPA network publically, all issues i had where gone and service much improved, especially indoors. -- The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. They claim this entire city is bathed in beautiful 3G and the entire time I had service with them (which was one year) I had EDGE. I called them questioning this and they told me they were experiencing technical problems and that 3G would be back up soon. A year later and there was still no 3G. Luckily I always have a smart phone or two or another providers network for redundancy. |

So, in the mean time, T-Mobile customers must tolerate fluctuating service while their servers come up to the new ah... European standards? I have to preface all my calls with, "When (not if) the call drops out, I will call you right back." This makes calls, especially business calls, very awkward and I don't mind telling people that I am having problems with terrible T-Mobile service. I am usually thanked for that, especially from those considering buying T-Mobile service. One would think that the new European programing would be tested prior to submitting customers to clumsy service. -- Today's scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality. ~ Nikola Tesla |

| clumsy service? Would the metropcs thing even make any difference to you in aurora, co area as they don't even list it as having coverage. (it won't.)
And what does european standards have to do with it? America is far ahead in LTE then a lot of europe.
They are launching HSPA pcs And LTE-Advanced at the same time. If your not happy, vote with your wallet. | No, I am not happy and my contract is up in 4 months. LTE was developed in Europe. Regardless, T-Mobile doesn't seem to have a handle on it, yet. I need reliable service and from recent experience I am just not getting it. I have been a T-Mobile customer for many years and it has always served me well, but that is no longer the case. Whatever is going on with the service it has become quite a problem for me and for others according to the T-Mobile support forums. It would seem that I am not alone with these complaints. I am happy to learn that others, such as yourself, remain satisfied with the service. -- Today's scientists have substituted mathematics for experiments, and they wander off through equation after equation, and eventually build a structure which has no relation to reality. ~ Nikola Tesla |

| Out of curiosity, what kind of phone do you normally use? Sounds like the pcs HSPA refarming is going on in your area. (Lte for tmobile is only limited to kansas city and vegas so it's not that)
I had that problem for a few weeks here and once they finished it, all became well again. (actually much improved. I get HSPA+ deep in buildings i never did before) -- The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult. It might be half-assed for a bit but it's a hell of a lot better than what you have now. Oh, yeah, I agree, though I was talking about the merger not actually have gone through, the title of the thread gives the impression it has, and the Metro PCS shareholders may just prevent it going through. You know, T-Mobile is actually starting to put up 3G/4G here now, it's on in Fort Bragg, Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville and Crescent City. Ukiah, Redwood Valley, Willits and Lake County should be close behind, I hope! It's weird they would start with Fort Bragg and not Ukiah or Lakeport, but at least it's a start. They are still WAY behind the other guys, but I am glad to see them finally doing it. |
