Well it makes a bit of difference...........not sure it's worth running another process for the small amount it saves though.

Don't think that author is talking about "current" Firefox.
The article is not dated and version is not mentioned...the first reply to that post is May 2012.

We may assume he was referring to Firefox 12.(?)

The Firefox devs have been working intensely during the past year on memory use.

Ya it doesn't work well anyway.........starts well then FF jumps to the normal 300/400 range again.

After doing more research......it's not really something you want to be running.

It actually "seems" to be working pretty well for me.......been using on v19 and v20. With 20 or so tabs open, I usually see around 500 - 600k......with this running, it spends a LOT of the time below 25k....rarely goes above 50k......and only briefly ever sees anything above 100k......these figures are changing every second, so there's lots of jumping around......but at any one time, I often see less than 10k. The memory usage doesn't seem to change much whether the slider is all the way left.....or all the way to the right.

Things "seem" a little snappier......but not sure yet whether that's "placebo" or not.

The same here
