I too became a LURKER back in the late 90's and the mid and late 2000's. It is so easy to get wound up and trapped at times with family or household matters.

I even went searching for answers at a couple of other forums. One was very military in its treatment of all members. And the other tended to be very secretive about many issues and seemed to have a caste system/pecking order.

After around 5 or 6 years I finally eased back with Team Helix. Very comfortable again. I started out over at Team Starfire but something happened over there. The forum is nothing but stats it seems. Oh gosh we used to have rallies, Gum Balls, races and other fun. We had a lot of fun. Then the Seti platform seemed to change and became a blasted BOINC program and there went the neighborhood.

That is when I came back over to Team Helix. I like running Distributed Computing programs and I love Team Helix.

I once had a posts removed because I used the term "Japanese cars". That is just one example of a long list, all because apparently I debated a person on this site and their friend is a Moderator here.

I also have a long list of nasty PM's from said MOD which have been "removed"

This is one of the very few sites that loads quickly and just fine on old PC's and other not-so-well-endowed devices and slow connections (heck, it was originally designed to work fine on a dialup connection so folks could shop for DSL). This site doesn't do crap to annoy me, bog down my device or assult me with ads and "Please take a survey" crap. This site has stayed mostly true to how it was originally (except for the addition of the various non-tech forums over the years, which I actually welcome :)... might not still be a bad idea to add a "Pets" forum).

Same here, for the most part. Can't remember when I first arrived, but I lurked for a while before joining in March 2002.

I'm here almost every day, and when I have the time I check in several times a day to see if there's anything new. DSLR is one of the best sites on the net.

I informed them we could not wait so I scanned all of the PC's with HouseCall from Trend Micro cleaned up everything several hours before they got there. I learned about PC-cillian as it was called back then on DR's security forum and it's abilities where confirmed by a real IT person I knew at a major high tech company in the Longmont, Colorado area. It has been fun. :D

A couple of years ago I decided to purchase a premium member ship only to be informed that I would not gain anything because I had been around so long I already had grandfathered in the extras I would have received with the premium membership.

I've experienced ImOn (when they were McLeod USA), Mediacom, Comcast, and Time Warner. They are much better than broadcast TV.

I have not and will not cut the cord.

12 years without premium. Well done. This is one of the few sites I also return to. A lot of resources here.
