uverse speeds

I currently have 2 dsl lines to my house 3mbps. There is a vrad box down the road. uverse internet and phone is available but only 768 kbps. My neighbors box about 150 yards away if that can get uverse at 18mbps. My house is actually closer beacuse he lives a long way from the road. I just dont understand why the big difference in speeds. Is there anyway to try and get faster than 768 or will they not even try a best effort? I would like to have another line but i dont think they will run it. im sure that faster dsl is out of the question since there not offering it anymore in my area. Any suggestions? I would just like a way to get faster service or additional service. I have even thought about restarting a buisness i once had a few years ago and trying a buisness line. Thanks

In my old neighborhood, the lines ran 1,200 feet away from the VRAD, before turning back, such that neighbors farther from the VRAD in "road miles" were actually closer to the VRAD in "wire miles". So don't count on relative distance by the roads.

And that residence had a CO connection, anyway.

You should make a "Prequalification" request in the AT&T Direct forum. If faster DSL (and U-verse is DSL in most areas), they should be able to help.
