 | [BC] Switching from Telus to Shaw Over and over again every night same place same time my bandwidth keeps getting cycled up and down through some kind of jinsu schreddar. I complained but theres nothing they can do. I never got the email address they promised me, the never get back to me on my free webspace and overal its been super expensive and ridiculous all the way through.
Its like having a bunch of gremlins annoy you , there sensitive you can't complain , feed them after midnight but hundreds of them expect the world of you.
Not that I so love being cycled 1.2 to 2.56 spectrum throughout the evening but I dont torrent I dont use it for anything and It seems there is people dangling off my wire with a bunch of tinfoil hats on.
My telus phone crackles non stop like I am talking through a tin can and my nearest central office is in burnaby.
Lightspeed doesn't even do anything it just says " TELUS IS RESPONSIBLE " for the line speed sort of like owning your own car but someone else insures it puts gas in it drives it you get the picture.
Cipherkey seems to be the name on the logo but AEBC.COM does the routing. Its been hell of a experience I wonder how many are flying in this time.
While I am all about saving families money but 63 bucks for 2.5 megs that is infrequent as hell and 63 bucks for a phone that sounds like a tin can is obsurd.
Telus is the way of the dodo bird, they seem to stick there head in the sand and hope no one notices them unable to provide service , internet phone and service there lines . No fiber
But shaw is doing all kinds of work alpha boxes going up like they were fortune cookies in my area. All kinds of money.
Telus seems to hand out the numbers shaw maxes them out.
What a team what a team.
Ridiculous company telus your are quite the laughing stock.
" We can't port forward " amazing well my router can I guess yours is special delivered on the short bus.
I really would like to live somewhere and have a stable phone and internet for the rest of my life without someone that decides that they will just refuse me service and force me into a situation of imaginable service levels.
" We can't switch your phone service "
" We dont offer internet in this area "
" We still want to get paid for everything we can't do " |

 | I know a few homes that Telus won't put in POTS lines to, even when the home-owners ask... Telus told them to get cell phones instead because they won't install the copper...
Welcome to Shaw? When do you get installed? Which package did you decide to go with? -- Yes, I am not employed and looking for IT work. Have passport, will travel. |

 | I couldn't afford the higher spectrum 140mhz and above to 170mhz which I hear is phasing out. I guess with the digital upgrade everything is going up up up. I guess i find it strange since less of the carrier wave can be utilized for overall line attenuation. I make this stuff up as I go along since I really know it doesn't matter what I seem to do Im treated like crap used and disconnected usually. I guess the VCI saudia arabia and brazil tipped me off as to what really is going on with my current connection. I am not racist or anything but I seem to see the same trends with employment in my local economy. I dont seem to fit the mold for the affiliate programs. I seem to do all the right things until its time to get paid.
I went with the Promotional bundle phone and internet 49 dollars for 3 months and 70 a month non promotional internet and phone bundle. This is a life saver for me I was paying 120 dollars per month for this crappy internet where they dont seem to understand bandwidth provisioning.
I have at times receiving some obscure reason why they fail to deliver their product. I guess in life there are things which can't be done and things which are difficult that we dont want to do but have the luxury of lying to our customer. Voip comes to mind allot. You wouldn't believe how sickened you get calling voip after voip were they say they can port a number over only to have you pay for it then they say it can't be done. I suspect nearly 90% of this is criminal behavior.
I dont really give a crap about what most liars have to say I suppose. Where you stand is the most important part of your entire experience with telephony technology since 911 services need to work.
Its difficult to send police to a box number or ip address when someoen makes a distress call. Then you have your fake police, switchboard operators fielding the call pretending to relay info it can get obsurd depending on where you are in the world from my understanding.
Im tired of having to shuttle my telephone and internet because no one seems to be able to provide reasonable service for a reasonable price. Location shouldn't matter everyone should have the right to a phone and internet in british columbia. Its 2013 but the technology seems to be light years behind except when it comes to the losers that use it to harras you with say sound projection devices.
Maybe I am wrong. Maybe Im right. Maybe I am unfortunately right. Either way I am sick of this disturbing crackling and behavior. Intermittant speeds , and paying for some idiot to tell me they can't do something that they can but dont want to spend money. It seems to be a childs game for the most part.
Oh I am light years away from getting installed. |

Re: [BC] Switching from Telus to Shaw Both DSL and Cable have their downside.
DSL needs you to be relative close to a CO. The further away you are the worse the signal gets. Cable on the other hand does quite well over long distances.
On the Flip site in super dense areas cable can suffer from saturate nodes. DSL doesn't really have that issue so it has an advantage there.
I think with either service it all depends on where you live. |

 | reply to usednabused Personally, I've only ran into congestion once. At my old place, had problems with my VDSL2 Optik from Telus on a regular basis. Number one problem was their terrible Actiontec hardware. One point of failure for TV and Internet. The device just didn't seem to handle what I threw at it. Had 3 of them burn out in my 6 months of the service. Never once with Shaw have I had a complete modem failure. Had them go wonky and need replaced, but never a complete failure. Also, like stated, I ran into distance issues for certain profiles. Had to get a Telus employee to manually override my profile to even get the 25Mb plan. Was extremely flaky, at best.

| reply to usednabused This is a perfect example of collateral damage Telco's do!
Who is paying this man's meds? We do! Who is paying once he snaps and damages property or life? We do! Who is paying for his institutionalized care? We do!
Who did this to him? TELUS! |

 | It was the crackling that really drove me insane I must admit. I can't continue with the erraTICK speeds and coded like cripTICK transmissions and incoherant email ramblings. Its just time to quit and move on to a faster isp one that is more manable robust and more suited to my lifestyle of government handouts and the ocassional big lotto win. |
