Bathroom sub floor; at base of toilet sewer pipe

At the base of the toilet there is a plate at the sewer pipe. Do I remove this plate in order to add a new sub floor? Or do I leave it on?

Post a picture of what you have. Without that it's going to be hard to give you accurate advice.

Not a plate, its a toilet flange. If the flange is in good shape, it stays, you cut the subfloor like a clamshell to fit.

Many different suggestions in a recent thread but I personally will choose the "set-rite" shown near the end when I replace our vinyl floors with tile.
