OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 1 edit | It looks OK to me but you haven't said what you would be using the system for.
I would personally go for the Core i7 3770K rather then the 3770. As well as a Corsair, PCP&C or Antec PSU over Rosewill. I'm also not crazy about spending a lot on a case but I understand some people like to do so. Also since I run a number of systems large cases sometimes take up too much space. Cases can be very subjective though,.....
You don't need a lot of space for that HD 7850 case wise,...
But depending on you're needs the system looks fine.
***edit***
I recently bought a Samsung 840 (non-pro) 500GB SSD for about ~$330 and think highly of it. So I think your choice of the 840 Pro 128GB, while small, is great. |

ChumpSupport Bbr Rc5Premium join:2002-10-27 | reply to Chump I'm not a heavy gamer. maybe a game here or two. Office Doucments, etc.. I'm looking for something that is going to laste me another 5 yrs or so.
Is the Core i7 3770k is better? Difference? The SSD is going to be main boot/OS Drive. I have other larger drives for storage. |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | reply to Chump If you don't really game you may be fine with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 sub-system of the Core i7 3770 rather then buying a video card. The differences between the 3770K and the 3770 are minor but basically the K version is unlocked and the default clock speed is 100MHz higher.
As for the SSD you have the option of using it as a cache drive rather then a boot drive but Intel wont use more then ~64GB as a cache.
Personally I have found I can get away with just using an SSD since I tend not to install a lot of programs and store files on my server.
You didn't list a HDD though. So I guess your using additional parts not listed above like Monitor, keyboard, mouse, OS, HDD and so on? |

 | reply to Chump K-series CPUs allow you to overclock.
Edit: I guess I took too long to reply . I was looking up the price difference as well, it's a bit more than with Sandy Bridge. -- KI6RIT |

 | reply to Chump I just had one built for me and used the I7-3960X which appears to be much more then you care to spend. $1000. - $1100. This is un-locked so you can OC if you wish. -- "Ol Sgt. Frank (ret)....... |

This is un-locked so you can OC if you wish. It sounds like a great system you have there but I hope "just had one built for me" means you've had it for a bit. The reason I say this is that the Core i7 3960X was supplanted by the Core i7 3970X in the same price range some time ago. Since the price doesn't go down on these processors there isn't any incentive to buy the older part.
Also from what I have heard there will be a Core i7 3980X processor released with 8 Cores / 16 threads to end the Sandy Bridge-E Line. This is likely due before the release of Ivy Bridge-E in late 2013 (Q3). |

 | reply to Octavean No, I just picked it up 4 days ago. I may have to talk to them about the 3970 to see what they say. Either way they both are very nice processors. I thank you for the info. -- "Ol Sgt. Frank (ret)....... |

| reply to Chump I recently got a i7-3770 and with my Asus P8Z77-V motherboard I've been able to overclock it up to 4.2 GHz pretty easily. Just FYI to help with your decision about which CPU. -- »www.caryontech.com |
