| [Troubleshooting] Motorola CPEi25150 cannot enable WAN Radio! I bought this Clear WI-MAX WAVE 2 modem 3rd party, and called Clear to change from the 3G/4G service to 4G Mobile. Done. The modem is enabling me to surf the web, but the Clear tech support assured me that, since I am on 4G Mobile service, my connectivity is not through Clear. OK, fine.
Question 1) I can surf, but where am I getting my connectivity from?
Question 2) I can only surf using the Ethernet cable. My modem has 'Enable Wi-MAX Radio Interface' checkbox unchecked, and every time I check it, add 10 seconds for refresh, and hit apply, it comes back unchecked, and I still have no WAN transmission from the modem. What can I do to get wireless router functionalty? I need to have my TV, TIVO and other devices working on this connection.
(Important development: I noticed the last green light was lit while I was serching for an answer and started typing this post, indicating an automatic software/firmware upgrade was in progress. Now my password to access the modem does not work anymore. I was using 'CLEAR123', I tried 'motorola' and 'nsn', and still cannot access the modem at »192.168.15.1/. I have NOT changed the password myself. How do I access the configuration, now? Interesting note: Logon screen says NOKIA Siemens Networks Wi-MAX CPE, asking for a password, but this modem is branded Motorola, and looks like the motorola modem described!) | | p110011 join:2001-12-29 Oregon City, OR Reviews:

That's nonsense, you might want to check your account to see if this person did not add another charge on top of what you already had. Is your other device still active?

You're a bit confused about two different technology’s, WIMAX is the 4G network, that is what the radio button is for and you don't want to uncheck it. It also does not have router functionality.
To connect you devices you need to get a router.

The green lights are signal strength indicators (1 is low 5 is highest)
Try (nsn) without quotes, for a password. | | | Thanks for the response.
My original device, a 3G/4G USB stick modem is no longer active. Interesting, though, when I tell Clear what my MAC address is for the Motorola modem, they insist it is for a USB stick modem! Could the first tech support person have activated my modem on my mobile account for the clear network by changing the MAC assignment, or something?
The chat line rep insisted that I am on a regular mobile service, and my Motorola modem will not work, because it will only work if I have a Home service account.
I have cycled the power on the modem (3 min), and tried all three passwords (without quotes), and none of them work.
According to the manual, the 5th green LED is only active when the modem software is being updated; only the first four are for signal strength. My 5th LED was on for a while, then it went out, then my access password would not work anymore.
Thank you for clarifying that my modem does not have router functionality. I will add a router. Just our of curiousity, what is the Enable WiMAX Radio Interface checkbox for? (It is not checked, and it went back to un-checked when I checked it and pressed Apply.) | | | reply to p110011 To clarify, I have had this Motorola modem for a few months, and only today called to have my account switched to the 4G mobile account. | | | ...and I only started using the Motorola modem today...

| Since you said that you bought it from a third party, I'm assuming it's not stolen or anything like that, right? Not insinuating, just asking what the status of the modem is? You can check on Clears web site what the status is »www.clear.com/devices/byod Did you tell them that you want to change your service, from mobile to home service? | | | I bought it on eBay; the seller said it worked for him quite well.
When I went to the validation page you linked, I got this response: "The MAC Address entered is either invalid, doesn't belong to the selected device model, or is currently activated on CLEAR network. Please check the MAC Address of your device and try again." I have triple checked the MAC adddress.
I don't know what to make of it... Since the rep says that mac is a USB stick, and did not mention that it is active on another account, I am still wondering...
I specifically told them that I wanted to have a mobile account, becasue that service does not require a one year contract. Originally, the first rep did sign me up for a Home account with a contract, but I had the second rep cancel the contract and switch me to a Mobile account, with no contract... maybe their computer is still sorting things out? | | p110011 join:2001-12-29 Oregon City, OR | The Clear site says there are NO long term contracts | | | OK, now I have another story from another two reps from Clear...
I did not know they had signed me up for a contract in August 2011, a 2 year contract. They have now cancelled the automatic extension of that contract they put me on today that was until Feb 2014. (They did not mention a contract, or extension when they did that.)
This rep assured me that new customers are not required to be under contract on any plan, like the website says. Thanks for prompting me to check on this!!!!
Another update: They did indeed re-map my modem. the site says: "Updated modem model from ***WiMax RSU to ***USB Modem for account number 3747612 serial number 0023A2F30E41." Interesting they say the modem cannot work on the mobile service plan ...but someone there can make it work.
So they are providing, thank you, Clear, my mobile service on my home WiMAX modem. Just perfect for me!
I just wish their reps were better trained. Several times I asked to speak with someone who understood English better after telling them 20 or more times (I am very patient) that I was not understanding them or they were not understanding me, and was begged: to try it a little more. (I spoke with about six reps today, three were having a hard time with English.) I have spent most of the day, 9 1/2 hours today on the phone or chat sessions .
All in all, I guess I am satisfied, or at least will be when I get a router working. My Cradlepoint CTR35: I can't seem to access it anymore... | | p110011 join:2001-12-29 Oregon City, OR | Sounds like you're making headway.
I also have a Cradlepoint, where are you on that?
