Re: 50/25 Upgrade for $10/month I wouldn't do that working for VZ. thats a bit dishonest. and you wouldn't get a wireless N gigabit router anyways. good luck. |

I know from reading other posts this is a common issue. One friend just did the same thing and they allowed him to exchange his olde router for the newer one. He's only getting 25.5/30 with his fairly new MAC sitting only a couple of feet away from the router. Just tell the rep that the router gets very hot and restarts itself very frequently. That will almost guarantee you a free replacement. -- 75/35 Fios, Triple Play Extreme. |

 | reply to billhere I just upgraded a few hours ago. Went from roughly 15/5 WITH ETHERNET to 58.7/39 for an additional $10 per month.
HOWEVER, my WiFi is lagging way behind. It was roughly 15/5 and now I only increased to 22.1/21.5 sitting three feet away from my original ActionTec router.
My new Samsung SmartTV just clocked in at 23.8/21.6 thru WiFi in our second floor bedroom about 20' from the router. In the same room, my laptop clocks in at 20.7/21.
I just watched a YouTube video and it ran great for a couple of minutes but then started "hiccuping." It's slightly better than it was before the upgrade.
Should I call Vz and ask for the newer "N" router? |

 | reply to ab4bd I also have 25/25 and have already decided that it's not worth $10 more every month to go to 50/25. |

 | reply to bsudbrink Are you using WiFi or wired connection to the router? If WiFi, try wired connection to the router please |

 | reply to pinky321 That will be crazy for us 50Mbps is too slow lol |

 | reply to brianiscool I think so and Verizon will keep increase the price annually so eventually the monthly charge will be the same as the price for current lowest speeds tier. By that time, customers with any speeds tier lower than current offering will have no reason not to upgrade their speeds due to they are paying same price as lowest speeds tier currently offered. |

1 edit | reply to frankpf3 I do not see any billing concern thus far. However, I do note that Verizon just add $10 per month without changing speeds to 50/25. In other words, the bill still show old speeds, but bill you $10 more than before.
It appears to me that there is no way to downgrade back to old speeds at old price. At least we do not see any mention of it such as if you are not satisfy with the upgrade, we will be glad to restore your old speeds with old price.
Furthermore, there is no router sent for this speeds upgrade.
To sum up, I believe Verizon is doing everything they can to have everyone get onto one of current speed tires and pay as close as possible to current prices without losing customer. |

 | reply to DAVIDGR I guess FIOS next year will wiping out 3/1 and 15/5 |

 | reply to tito79 I got just 50/25 for $69.99 : ) |

1 edit | reply to bsudbrink I upgraded via Verizon web site. The speeds upgrade were immediate. Account update took about a day or two.
Try cold boot your router and computer please |

 | reply to DAVIDGR I did the automated (TV) upgrade last night. This morning, I got the confirmation emails. I checked a couple of the speed test sites and, while my download was well over 50, my upload was still around 1.5. I think I upgraded from 5/1 service. Is there some period of time that it takes for "both sides" to be upgraded? |

frankpf3verizon.net join:2007-08-09 Huntington Station, NY | reply to dmine45 Here is the real question.
I have 35/35. If I sign up, and weeks later try to cancel, do they put you go to your old speed? I know 35/35 is not offered anymore.
Also, good luck with billing for this. |
