Re: Does the leased SB6141 only get firmware updated?

Yeah...I did have 30/3 with Insight and now I have 30/5. The additional upload speed is greatly appreciated.

Just waiting on the over-provisioning and hopefully modem firmware update (I have a SB6121.

I own our SB6141, and according to the log, they upgraded my modem to SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.12-SCM00-NOSH on 7/9/2013. I believe it was running this version when we got the modem, but within a short time TWC had downgraded it to 1.0.6.3, IIRC.

Still on 1.0.6.8 which is a stable firmware. I check everyday multiple times of the day and you all will be the first to know if there is a update.

I am waiting with bated breath. I am assuming you are rebooting multiple times a day else your checking is pointless.

The more times I do a reboot or a reset it might push the new firmware. A question for those who got the firmware update. Did you keep rebooting your modem or did it just update automatically? Thanks.

It happened automatically in the middle of the night.

It will happen when it happens -- Rebooting your modem endlessly won't speed up the process. TWC and other providers roll out the firmware in very controlled fashion to monitor the effects it has on the network and to ensure there are no major issues.

My rented 6141 shows "Motorola Mobility LLC" and has a copyright date of 2013 now after a remote reboot around 12am last night. The 6141 I ordered from Staples arrives today or tomorrow, so we'll see if that gets the update when it's provisioned. This is Columbus market.

Did we ever establish what this firmware does?

No, I got it before almost anyone else and I don't live in California or New York. I have a rented 6141. Whenever I buy one, it will be interesting to see when it is updated (if at all if I go back to 15/1 end of November).

Mine updated to the same firmware on the 21st at 12:20am in So Cal. Installed it on the 18th.

....Well after the update it was up for a little 3hrs with no problem and then once again....I get the following mesages in order:
1.) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
2.) Ranging Request Retries exhausted
3.) Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - No response - Retries exhausted
4.) Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout
5.) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out
6.) MIMO Event MIMO: Stored MIMO=-1 post cfg file MIMO=-1
7.) TLV-11 - unrecognized OID

These messages have been occurring on and off since the modem was installed on Aug 18th and I thought it was due to my firmware being from Aug 2012. I had hoped this new firmware update would solve the "Reboots due to T4 timeout" messages that completely stops my internet service for a minute or so. The stoppage isn't too long but my desktop and wireless just freeze and stop which is very frustrating if you're using the service. It doesn't take long to come back up but its an annoyance...

45min later.....same sequence of messages 1.) - 7.)......this sucks!!!

T3 and T4 errors are mainly caused by signal problems, often upstream noise. Call TWC.

I'll monitor this more closely but my T4 errors on one of my 3 upstream channels has gone away. It could be something TW did to the noisy lines but it's been with me for quite some time. Now, all lines report success with no T4 timeouts.

Time will tell I suppose....

Number of fixes and updates with regards to docsis 3 specs, it may not be critical but definitely something worth mentioning.

DrDrew,
Thanks for the reply. Since my last post I went about 10hrs without a t4 modem reboot and since then haven't experienced any more. I've kept copies of the logs just so I can see when its happening. I'll give it a day or two to see how it goes. After restarting the modem through the modem configuration page, I did notice my upstream go from 15 to 16mbs and my downstream go to a little above 1mbs. Can you please elaborate on what causes upstream noise? Thx.
