 | Can I get 4G? Did a tech chat with Millenicom and they tell me that 4G is not available to me even though the Verizon map clearly shows that I am now in a 4G area. He claims I am in a fringe area. I called Verizon directly and they said that I would get 4G mostly but might occasionally be at 3G. I'm 4 miles from the tower on level terrain and my signal averages around -90 on 3G. I do not have access to a laptop or 4G phone to check. Looking at the Verizon map, should I be able to get 4G? |

 | Well I talked to Toby at Millenicom today and got better clarification and have ordered the 4620. |

just got mine yesterday and it works great. |

 | reply to GaryInTex Just wanted to give an update to my service. I got my 4620le on Friday and got it charged and installed without issue. I have been monitoring speedtest and signal strength for 3 days now. My signal has been pretty weak and probably need to get the antenna for it. My RSSI per the device display averages 40 to 44% and the dbn averages -105 to -110. Despite the low signal I have maintained 4G service. I have averaged pings 65 to 85, download 7 to 13 Mb/s and upload of 1.8 to 3.25 Mb/s. Absolutely fantastic compared to my decaying 3G service from this tower. I also note that from Google earth I found that I am 4.4 miles from the tower (in a very rural area). I am very satisfied with the internet speeds now but am concerned with the low signal strength. Would the antenna from Millenicom provide me much improvement on signal strength? |

Without costing you a bunch of dough. |

 | reply to GaryInTex Appreciate the input Max. I will probably order the antenna before long. |

 | How do I find the RSRP signal? I don't see that in the 4620 menu. |

 | reply to GaryInTex OK, thanks for the help. Since I have been having a steady connection and good speeds for this area, I think I will add the antenna to improve signal a little and be happy with the service. Appreciate all the help everyone on this site offers. |

|
 | reply to GaryInTex I just went to this site: »www.antennasearch.com/ . I knew about where it was already. I then went to GE and zoomed in on the area until I could actually see the tower. Zoom back out and use the line measuring tool on the GE header to measure from tower to house. Pretty useful info |

| reply to GaryInTex I take that back, you can see the RSRP signal strength if you into the admin page and then Advvanced>Diagnostics and click on "Field Test" at bottom. Then scroll down toward the bottom of that open window -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |

 | reply to GaryInTex Thanks a lot Jim. Found it and it shows a -104 for me so I guess that is a decent signal. I've had solid 4G for several days now and is working great! |

Max SignalPremium join:2008-03-07 Buffalo, NY kudos:1 | Still should add antenna from Millenicom to bring it into the 90's and lock it in . -104 is not great |
|
 | reply to GaryInTex Max, I agree I still need the antenna to improve signal. I just wanted to confirm how well the service to my tower was working before dropping any more money in it. I'm out in the sticks and Verizon let the 3G degrade so bad here that I wanted to confirm that the 4G from it was good. |

1 edit | Better than -96dBm is a great signal Between -97dBm and -107dBm is good Between -108dBm and -114dBm is fair Worse than -115dBm is poor
So, like Max says, getting that signal into the 90's via a antenna will give you a great LTE speed -- ... need help? »evdo-tips.com/ |
