Re: Can I get 4G?

to check the rsrp signal, where is the "admin page"? i didn't find it on the mi-fi or the millenicom website after logging in.

my reading.....LTE rsrp=-103 dBm, sinr=11 dB. i usually have 2 or 3 signal bars.

am i a candidate for this? Universal Antenna with Adapter - $49.99

can someone explain why they suggest the above 13 db gain antenna instead of a 3db gain antenna?

unlike signal strength in a device (measured by dBm, and lower is better}, Antenna gain in db means the higher the number the better the signal acquiring ability of the antenna.

So RSSI for a device, the lower the dBm number the better the signal

For a antenna, the higher the number in dB, the better the gain

That make sense?

the millenicom can bring in more signal then the ebay one. got it. do my numbers just posted before say i'm in need of a 3gb or 14 gb gain antenna? or no antenna?

the reading on the mi-fi signal strength screen gives me rssi 44% & -108dbm. why does the dbm number differ from checking it on line? why is the on line dbm number more accurate?

optimally you want to get your RSRP signal down into the 90's. What you have with -108 is ok, but not giving you all the speed you can get out of LTE. The online version gives a more accurate picture of what is going on with signal in real time.

The higher the gain of the antenna the better.

The eBay antenna is junk, don't bother.

thank you for all the info. the on line dbm was 103. that's a bit better then the 108 on the device, correct?

one more......i see lots of variables on the verizon page. anything on there that i need to change to improve the wi fi's use?

What I did with mine:

Network>WWAN>WWAN Preferred Mode>LTE Only
Advanced>Settings>Automatic Shutdown>Never

Those are the only changes I made

My experience with LTE is using a Jetpack, no antenna, 2 bars of signal, RSRP of 112, SINR of -5 ... equals about 8-11 Mb/s down and 1.5 up. I'm a mile from the tower. VZ does not show my area as being covered. I do see crews at the tower site almost daily.

locking it into "LTE Only" prevents it from going into 3G ..which if 3G is the stronger signal, prevents you from getting a LTE signal.

Never letting it automatically shutdown makes it a constant connection without going to sleep, which can sometimes be a problem to get it to Wake Up.

so you don't turn your mi fi off when you're done using it? i was advised to turn it off, to prevent possible theft of my 20gb limit. not an issue?

you definitely want to turn it off when you're not using it. Automatic software updates from Microsoft etc. will eat your cap quickly. Use it when you need it, turn it off when not.
