Should i stay or should i go? (Tek Vs. Start)

been with Teksavvy for ~10 years had 5meg dsl and switched over to cable when they first started offering it. never really had any problems other than the horrid slow downs for a couple of months due to the heavy oversub on cable when they first started offering it.

Now iv come to a cross roads, start is offering 45/4 and thats really attractive offering and i was wondering when teksavvy is going to offer the same plan i know this whole business with the aggregated vs non-aggregated POI. i'm was on the Mcnicoll poi but got switched over to the Comstock one.

Basically what i'm saying is id prefer to stay with tek but i want/need faster internet speeds now, so when will this be a avail? if its going to be another 4 month or year im going to be switching.

also i have heard nothing but good review from start customers, plus i need MOAR upload to start utilizing my babies more, and by babies i mean servers included some nerd porn for you guys.
First one is pfsense router, second is XAMPP for web dev, third is a 20TB file server

Thanks for listening and thanks in advance for your input
have great day

Edit the 25/10 dsl isn't avail in my area so not an option plus its too expensive for what you get

Exact same predicament I'm in, I want to stay but I need to know a timeframe. I won't be switching until start offers unlimited plans though

Any decision you make should probably wait a week or so until the details post CBB-decision-release are known.

Yeah. I'm very happy to have jumped ship last month, but the monthly traffic cap is a big issue there for me and others. Right now I'm telling my friends who rely on my advice to stay put (Teksavvy) until after the CBB stuff gets sorted.

Did those rails for your Rosewill server chassis come in the box? I bought the same one (I think) from Newegg a few months ago and didn't notice rails or anything like that in the box.

I'm waiting to see what start offers as well with new rates.

Re: Should i stay or should i go? (Tek Vs. Start)

I jumped ship on the 13th. Speeds and ping are good. Expect problems during the transition.

Start doesn't have the gear to monitor bandwidth, so it's technically unlimited right now. ^_^ Rocca confirmed this a few days ago.

No, not the 1U servers, the 4U Rosewill case underneath that.

The speed increase is thought to be for sure by the end of the year. For some faster. So it really boils down to how urgent your need to switch is.

@rogers.com

I just cancelled rogers and have 30 days to find a new ISP, Teksavvy or Start?

I'm in the same boat. I got to say that I love TekSavvy's customer service for me personally, they've been very to good to me (especially late last year).

The 1Mbs upload speed is killing me, as video chat & video uploads are slow a swimming in butter. On the download end, everything is amazing.

I'm still hanging onto TekSavvy for now, but I don't know how long I can last!

I still love TekSavvy and it's csr's but the uploads have to get better, even if it's by only 1 additional Mbs.

P.S. @mikefallen (OP)
pfSense is the best, I love it and have been using it for quite some time now, I get the fastest speeds & best security as possible. I can't wait to see what new features they have in version 2.1.

Cheers!
