One Laptop won't connect to new 2wire......
I have multiple computers/iphones/ipad/macbook/androids that will all connect fine to the wireless. This certain laptop had Vista to start with and kept only getting "Local only" with the wired and wireless connections. This laptop works fine everywhere else I should add. Here is some stuff I have tried.
1. All the known Vista registry fixes that cause this.
2. Uninstalling drivers, reinstalling updated drivers.
3. Changing the encryption on the 2wire.
4. Added the allowed mac address to the router.
5. Setting up static IP for the machine
I finally got tired of it all and wiped the laptop...Installed the latest version of Ubuntu..installed all the updates. Tried different drivers. IT STILL WON'T WORK...and it works just fine everywhere else. Crazy or what?

As a last resort:
Disable all wifi encryption including the wifi mac address deny/allow list.
If the laptop connects to the lan/wan check the configuration of the laptops wifi encryption very closely.

try reinstalling vista again. if that does not work. purchase a wireless adapter. 2wire used to sell their own wireless adapter when they were still 2wire. I believe pace owns them.
