As someone who isn't that interested in sports, the primarily ESPN-driven seasonal rate hikes were really annoying to me. Like others here have stated, non-sports fans are typically among the first to cut the cord and that's exactly what I did over two years ago: went with an OTA/Netflix solution. But content producers and publishers -- particularly those in the sports business -- know that fans need their fix. They aren't afraid to ask for more money from transmitters like TWC and the other cable cos. This is not likely to change anytime soon.
