[Cable] Cogeco Beta - Modem Update Features 3 Upstream Channels

Click for full size
Noticed my Thomson 476 rebooted & now 3 upstream channels are available on the diagnostics page.

Previously, only 1 US channel was enabled. What does this mean?

Re: [Cable] Cogeco Beta - Modem Update Features 3 Upstream Chann

Which plan?
When did your modem reboot?
I checked mine & I still got 3down/1up.

Interesting, mine has had 4 down and 4 up since I signed up 2 weeks ago on the 14/1 plan.

To directly answer your question, it (channel bonding) means less chance of congestion at local nodes during peak periods.

And you are in what city ?

Interesting.. 3 down and 1 up was sort of a standard for a while, so nothing strange about that (kind of Docsis 2.9, if you like -- see DPC2505). 4 down and 3 up is pretty strange though. I'd suspect something isn't working right.

@Martin:

The pro plan: 30 down, 2 up

Midnight on wed/thurs

It hasn't made any difference to downloads/uploads; everything is working fine, it seems.

I simply wondered if the additional US channels was a precursor to getting 10Mbit upload.

Teddy_Boom mentioned this is a bad thing to have happened.

Naw, nothing's wrong. I went from 4 down 1 up to 4 down 3 up a few nights ago here in Fort Erie.

Probably the same deal as when they used to run 3 down and 1 up. They're probably not lighting up the fourth upstream channel until the traffic demand is there.

There are nodes in central St. Cats still running 3 down and 1 up, too.
