Bug in SB 6180 or chrome.

I just picked up an SB6180, and am having a weird issue with it's status pages, and chrome.

If I try to access the modems status pages, simply by using its address, in chrome, I will get an error. It will change the url to: »192.168.100.1/cgi-bin/status_cgi and give this error message in the browser: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

I can access all the pages just fine if I use the direct url, such as: »192.168.100.1/RgStatus.asp

This does not happen in IE. In IE, If I type in the address, it works as expected.

So.... it's either a bug in the way they designed the default page in the modem to redirect to the status page, or chrome isn't handling what they did use correctly.

Anyone else seeing this?

Doing further research, it seems to be an issue with another modem that I used to have, that used the same address. Chrome seems to have stored a preferred url/address somehow. Even when I type in »192.168.100.1/ it will pull up that preferred address as I referenced in my first post.

I discovered this by making an entry in my hosts file, as such:
192.168.100.1 cmodem

When I type in »cmodem in Chrome, it pulls up the default modem page just fine, just like in IE.

So I guess the question is, where does Chrome store these preferences and how can I get rid of them, or edit them.

Clear the browser history. That will remove all of them. Not sure you can do it manually and select just the history you want to remove. I've never found a way.

That fixed it...

Seems like very odd behavior to me. If I type in an address, it surely shouldn't give me a totally different url based on what it thinks I am trying to view from its stored cache.

If you type in the complete address it will stick in the address bar. It is when you don't finish the address Chrome selects one that is close.

Like if I type 192.1 Chrome lists all the 192.1xx.x.x addresses I have typed in and selects the top address as the one to use. If I continue to type 192.168.1.1 and hit the Enter key that is the one chrome uses.

The issue was, I was typing in an address, and even adding the ending / so it shouldn't try to load anything other than the default page. Instead, it was changing it to what I have indicated above in my original post. That's like typing in google.com and getting google.com/ilikefrogs because I went to that address once as well.

It wasn't completing the changed url as I typed it, it was after hitting enter to go to the url it was doing it, which is not the same as predictive behavior.
