Unfortunately, I'm not as much of a mech warrior geek as the rest of the folks. I do know that the people who are making this game are trying to stick very heavily to the storyline and I know that Gevurah is trying to build up a tight knit group of mechs to do the same.
I don't know if I shared this with Gevurah, but when we migrate to a game and set up a guild/clan/etc, we call it Aftershock. It isn't because we force that on anyone, but rather the tags that people used before were BBR or DSLR to represent the clan name and it just sounded weird to represent digital subscriber lines to people who didn't understand what it was about. Aftershock was more of a generic name that didn't sound weird.
For some games, a community site is set up. For the lesser games, there aren't. Basically, what I'm saying is that since Gevurah set this up and I've known him for nearly 15 years, there's no reason to carve out an Aftershock here. Whenever it allows us to, we can set up with the 1st Hussars officially for our group to join. -- A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -MLK
Currently with the upcoming changes the most we'll be able to field until they put in some truly 'epic' scale maps will be 1 Company in a game. One minor canon change - the Hussars refer to companies as banners. Typically the Hussars were light mech, medium, and light heavy pilots. I don't really care too much what you pilot so long as you enjoy it and are preferably good at it
Typical company organization in the Inner sphere: Lance 1 - Recon/Scout/Harrassment lance Lance 2 - Battle lance (heavies, assaults, brawlers, etc) Lance 3 - Command lance. Typically this group is used as a mobile reserve and is used to plug the holes as well as issue commands. Each lance has a lance leader, but command lance leader is highest up the food chain. Others in command lance are effectively no better unless commander dies and someone else has to designate targets/orders. Call it a field promotion. :P
I need to learn more about the MW lore--what little I know, I really like. It's very similar to The Black Company military/dark fantasy books set in the future. -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Arch - alpine is about 3x larger than the other 4 maps in rotation and my understanding is that is a 'medium' map. So the next map "desert" is supposed to be large, which should be 2-3x larger than alpine. That is to say, pretty damn big.
Jobbie - I enabled the application system on the 1st Hussars website. I'm still working on content, but feel free to apply guys.
This might show twice I'm just impatient and registered for instant posts.
Arch: Alpine is a 'medium' map. So the next map (desert) will be approx 2-3x larger as it is a 'large' map. So in short, VERY large.
12v12 is getting added soon and possibly larger amounts.
Also - I opened up the 1sthussars link for applications to make my life easier. There's some simple forum stuff I threw in there but feel free to put up whatever you have of use.
Sweet, I'll take at the 1st Hussars when I get home.
Can you post the pics of your mech cage? the link is websensed at work... -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
latest piece I added: center console - »imageshack.us/a/img7/7533/img0200fl.jpg It's a keyboard/monitor stand which I'm going to attach switches connected to an arduino to.
It'll be real interesting to see your project as it progresses. I can't even change a car light or a dryer vent without breaking it. -- A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -MLK
I got as far as downloading and then sleepy. Installed and waiting for me to try out when I get home. -- How lucky am I to have known someone who is so hard to say good-bye to.

Not sure if that will work for you.
Nice!! Will love to see it unfold. Are you putting hydraulic shocks on it? -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
What's all this now? Is this like an FPS? I remember playing MW2 and needing a joystick. Is that what this is like? -- "This thread has more subs than the actual game." Phantasee, in reference to SWTOR
It's the next Mechwarrior game. I don't think a joystick is needed, but could help if you are trying to immerse yourself like Gevurah. -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Not interested in immersion. Are you guys playing this on a regular basis? PoE is pretty hit or miss for people being online from here and WoW is B O R I N G. -- "This thread has more subs than the actual game." Phantasee, in reference to SWTOR
Or do without, I'd imagine it'd get really hot in a mech cockpit, considering you're sitting on top of a reactor. -- Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
