most of the time I don't use any vision modes, for some reason they tend to kill my framerate when there's lots of activity so I just pop it on for a bit an pop it off.... unless it seems to be running OK then I'll usually keep thermal on
Hah, I sometimes don't use it either. Especially in the middle of the night city in the water. But just because I have an easier time seeing friendlies vs enemies without any mode in that specific area. I think one of you even kept telling to turn on heat vision a couple of nights ago when I did that.
I like thermal, but I can't use it effectively if there's a big brawl and everyone is right next to each other while I am running around frantically at 130+, trying to avoid getting hit, and figuring out if the big blotch of red in front of me is a friendly or foe when the overlay is telling me both are there within 10m of me and I only have a second to decide if I should shoot or not before they're behind me.
I usually go night or just turn it off completely then as I have an easier time avoiding shooting friendlies.
Like I said, I was always a fan of speed and light mechs... plus I wanted to play around with the ECM and I am not a fan of the Raven right now. I got this OCD about wanting to use what's least popular.... so Spider it is for me.
Plus that backward movement speed is just nuts. I just wish they would add extra shortcut keys that the old Mech games had. 1/4 speed, 1/2 speed, 3/4 speed, Max speed and reverse engine buttons are a must for me.
