GTX Titan Reviews and Benchmarks

said by Overclocker.net :

NVIDIA GTX TITAN Video Card Review

Well, the day is finally here…part two! Today is the day we can show you what this beast can do. But first, if you haven’t already, do go read our introduction to TITAN to get a grasp on how TITAN is used and overclocked.

Just because it’s so pretty (I mean, really, it’s a great looking GPU), here are a couple quick photos before we get to testing....

I took the liberty of transcribing their graphs so it's a little easier to read and identify the top card, and how much of an increase it is over the GTX 670.

Edit: Changed the title because I'll post multiple reviews here.

Remember that this is primarily comparing the Titan to dual-GPU solutions (the Ares is a 7990 variant).

The TITAN, in this reviewer’s humble opinion, is a very good, $800 GPU. It just has a $200 premium tacked on for being the most powerful GPU in the world.

That's exactly what I said before. If that card was at an $800.00 listed price, I'd pick one up.

For $1000.00 I might as well purchase 2 7970's, and also, you can nearly go with the 6gb models in that price range and annihilate any game you play.

I pretty much agree, except that we're not considering noise or power draw, which admittedly, won't factor much into an enthusiast's decision.

Is a 200 dollar premium worth the reduced noise, power draw and case space?

Maybe. I don't know.

Maybe. I don't know.

If you go for the larger memory option (mandatory in a 680 as 2GB is not nearly enough nowadays), the Titan is actually very competitively priced, IMO.

Surprisingly, the PowerColor 7990 looks to be an absolute steal.

Oh wow, I didn't even know the Powercolor was only $900.

For some reason I was thinking it was right up there with the 690.

The drawback is that it is clocked at 900mhz, whereas my single 7970 can hit 1215mhz, so going 7970 Xfire would net you a decent performance jump.

Says 02/28/13 for release date.

I'm tempted. I won't lie.

Hrmm..... I'd love to go back to EVGA, although I hit OC gold with my Sapphire 7970.

yeah dude, you already got a damn nice 7970 model. Just pick up another, and you'll be perfect.

EVGA on their main page, shows the Super Clock Titan model, and signature series also.

I'm going to hold off a bit before doing anything. I'm leaning more towards picking up an EVGA Classified 680 pretty soon. A Titan would be complete overkill. Not like I'm running multi monitors.

If I was in the market, and had the embarrassing amounts of cashola for it, I wouldn't blink at the thought of getting a set of these with some EK waterblocks.

More realistically, Even just one would be fantastic, both for the performance, and because experience has shown me GPU's with lots of VRAM usually remain useful and/or playable longer, if they were high-end chips to begin with.

For the science of overclocking the bastard, I would love a liquid cooled Titan (or three ).

That said, I'm currently too broke-ass to even dream about it now.

I AM in the market, as I cannot get the smooth-as-butter performance I want out of a single 7970 at 1440p. But I bet two will do the trick.

IMO, Nvidia priced this too high. Why spend a grand when you could get a 690 or CF 7970?

I've read the thread previously. I wouldn't buy a Titan when there are clearly faster options out there for less $.

CF 7970 is $800 total and tears this thing a you know what --- especially if I already had a 7970 and could easily go CF.
