 | [Connectivity] Telephony-DHCP (Stuck in possible Loop?) Analog Cable No issues, Internet No issues, Telephone CHRONIC ISSUES, Several Arris TM602G Cable modems have gone through this location in the past 2 years. From the beginning and every time a field tech has come out (it never gets past the level of field tech) has done a signal strength test "Best they have seen", swapped splitters, re crimped every end over and over, ran new RG6 to get another 3 db. But signal was never an issue. Throughout All Described changes Prior and in the next paragraph, NEVER affected ATSC/ClearQam/Internet, all working full speed NO ISSUES.
Phone would randomly stop working, and stop at Telephone 1 blinking (Telephony-DHCP in progress) and stay there, no i would reset every minute from 1 hr to last nights recent 7 hr issue. If anything like my broken linksys router computers would get stuck in a DHCP loop when the lease expired, Client would Discover and the Offering is invalid so it goes back to Discover and back forth. Until i rebooted the router.
This morning, they came to DO THE USUAL, signal and modem replacement but of course they didn't bring their can of EASY 4 Modems later they got one to work. The third was the one that was set up with an "Operations Ticket" or something like that for a "Telephone 1 Issue" pretty complex terminology.
We don't find out about the phone going down and call support untill we need the phone, who knows how many times in between where it comes and resolves itself, but the longest stretch of time we had was 3 months.
Everybody assures me that its the modem and the next time it happens it will be the modem. "If it happens again try resetting it untill it does connect".
This is at my fathers house, he is old , and old fashoned (No Cellphone Tube tv broke and got replaced 2 months ago by a flatscreen i bought for him 3 years ago) what would happen if he had a HEART ATTACK, will there be enough time for him press the reset button over and over again and wait untill it comes up, or pass out on the way to the neighbor.
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND because they keep spraying that CAN OF EASY in my eyes and tell me they don't know the operations side but the next guy knows enough to tell me I do not understand TELYPHONY DHCP even the basics of Discovery, Offering, Request, & Acknowledge do not apply at all to Telyphony/MTS (I believe they all just want to swap a box and not be late to their next appointment and will say anything) It's up, sign here, if it happens again call us and we will come back out. I am not satisfied/nor believe with their The Cable Modem is the issue.
I'm thinking its a Provisioning issue, or Cable Modem Incompatibility.
Speaking of Reprovisioning, during last nights cell phone call about the issue they "Reprovisioned"it hopeing it would be fixed but noticed the Uplink is now Docsis 1.x 16Qam vs the normal 2.0 64Qam that has always been there, Never affected internet speed, and maybe the downgrade was an attempt to upgrade reliability.
I have done everything short of breaking the AUP by making a Cloned Diagnostic modem, illegal wiretapping with a sniffer, or even hacking. Just to learn and figure out the issue that should not occur.
Also They stated they do not have the ability to know when telephone has lost connection, Since last November I have had a WebCam recording 24*7 on the status lights and have watched it go offline and offline a couple times in the last three months but they resolved themselves in varying amount of times. Suddenlink does not have the ability to log that kind of information for me. Sorry about any rants tangents.
Any Knowledge, Information, or Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Pete is the first one on the list, and as far as I know, the most senior as well.
