In the UK, the BBC has a deal with the music publishers that allows them to use just about any music in their shows, including modern popular music, at least for the initial runs. In all other nations however, these rights have to be secured in advance. Sometimes, securing those rights are too expensive, so the original music is replaced with generic junk.
That's why in the Bugatti Veyron's top speed run in season 9, episode 2, you hear the Star Wars Sith Lord track in the original UK broadcast, and generic junk in every other broadcast including foreign broadcasts, both original and repeats.
And don't get me started on the butcher job done to the season 12, episode 8 Vietnam road trip special. -- Watch my future television channel's public test broadcast! »thecanadianpublic.com/live |

When I'm at the inlaws my father in law watches TG on his 4:3 TV, in SD, with commercials, with content edited, with the music changed I just cry inside. It brings the show's quality dowm to a crying shame considering how good of a job the BBC does on putting the show together. |
